With so many classics to choose from, we pulled together a list of 10 fan-favorite Gundam games: a mix of modern hits, PS2/PS3 legends, and a few titles that have never really lost their charm.
1. Extreme VS Maxi Boost ON
This is the competitive Gundam game. It comes with a huge roster, fast-paced 2v2 combat, and a legacy that goes back to classics like Federation vs. Zeon and Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam. The controls feel sharp and arcade-like, and suits like Blue Destiny (EXAM mode) are a big reason fans keep coming back.
2. SD Gundam Battle Alliance / SD Gundam G Generation Genesis & Crossrays
SD Gundam Battle Alliance is an action RPG that gets better the more time you spend with it. The grind-and-upgrade loop feels satisfying, and co-op play is a big plus. The chibi art style might not be for everyone, and some players think the combat gets repetitive, but for casual fans, it is a fun way to explore Gundam storylines.
SD Gundam G Generation Genesis & Crossrays are story-driven strategy RPGs with addictive gameplay, and include almost every Gundam series ever created. You build your own squadrons and can mix and match mobile suits, ships, and pilots, creating your own dream teams to play through your favorite anime series.
3. Gundam Breaker 3 & 4
Breaker 3 is still the go-to for deep customization and polished gameplay. Breaker 4 builds on that, marking a “return to form” after the misstep of New Gundam Breaker. If you like the idea of mixing and matching parts to create your own custom mobile suit, this series is worth every second.
4. Gundam Battle Operation 2
A free-to-play game that is surprisingly deep. Playing as grunt suits can be just as fun as taking iconic Gundams into battle, thanks to varied maps and strategic, team-based combat. There is a bit of power creep, but for a free title, it is easily the best way to get your Gundam fix.
5. Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn
The ultimate musou-style Gundam game. It brings back the massive rosters from earlier DW titles, with smoother combat and a real sense of power as you cut through hundreds of enemies with your favorite suits.
6. Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn (PS3, Japan-only)
Made by FROMSoftware, this one is all about space combat and unique limb destruction mechanics that make every battle feel intense. The Custom Cast mode, where you build and command squads like Jegans, is a great extra. It is Japan-only, but worth importing if you can.
7. Mobile Suit Gundam: One Year War (PS2)
Built by Namco’s Ace Combat team, this game has a cinematic feel and a focus on storytelling. It nails the 0079 atmosphere perfectly. Sadly, a planned sequel based on Zeta Gundam never got made, but this one is still worth tracking down.
8. Gihren’s Greed Series
These strategy games are basically Nobunaga’s Ambition, but with Gundam factions. They never released outside Japan, but longtime fans love them for their political layers and tactical depth.
9. Another Century’s Episode 3
This crossover game blends Gundam with other mecha franchises and throws you into high-speed, cinematic battles. It has a loyal fanbase and still feels like one of the coolest mecha crossovers ever made.
10. Blue Destiny Trilogy (Saturn)
A cult classic with Twin Stick support and a moody, atmospheric vibe. Its EXAM storyline and old-school gameplay make it a must-mention for Saturn fans.

Gundam Wing 30th Anniversary Spotlight
Recently, at San Diego Comic-Con a few days ago, in July 2025, Gundam Wing’s 30th anniversary was celebrated with a new illustration, a short video, and a manga update. (Source: animemojo)
