If you thought you had seen everything, think again. Here are the 10 things you may have completely missed while wandering the strange roads of Kojima’s latest masterpiece!
You Can Still Cause a Voidout
Just like in the first game, getting grabbed by a BT and failing the follow-up fight will trigger a massive explosion called a voidout. The blast leaves behind a giant crater, and the affected part of the map becomes inaccessible afterward.

Kojima in the Stars
Take a nighttime bath and look up at the sky: there is a hidden star pattern shaped like Hideo Kojima himself. Yes, really. It is a really sweet little tribute for players who like to check out the shape of stars.
Trekked Paths Become Real Roads
Walking the same path over and over again, especially with help from other online players, will slowly clear the terrain, forming a visible trail or even a road. A nice nod to the game’s core themes of connection. You will gradually clear the path and all grass, rocks, trees will disappear from that new road.
Your Birthday Gets Celebrated
When you first launch Death Stranding 2, it asks for your birthday. Why? Because on that day, the crew will throw you a surprise party on your ship, complete with a birthday pizza!
If you want to know exactly how to trigger this additional scene, we made a full guide for it:
How to Unlock the Secret Birthday Scene in Death Stranding 2You Can Get Sunburned

Spend too long under the sun without protection, and Sam’s skin will burn. You will need to take a shower to heal and cool down. One more reason to manage your time (and routes) carefully!
Earthquakes Shake Things Up (Who Would Have Thought)
“Gate Quakes” can hit at random times, completely reshaping the surrounding terrain. Landslides, rockfalls, and sudden destruction can happen any time, so be careful. You might be driving perfectly chill and suddenly the road before you will collapse.
Snow Melts When You Pee on It
First, yes, you can pee in the game. Now that everyone knows that, yes, if you pee on snow, it will melt in real-time. A kind of weird but fun use of environmental physics that shows how deep the simulation goes.
Hidden Lethal Mode
Hold L2 + R2 + Circle while in the weapon wheel to unlock lethal weaponry mode. This lets you clear enemy camps permanently, or cause a voidout if you are feeling extra chaotic. Basically, if you use it on camps the enemies will never respawn.
Rescue and Learn About Animals
As you progress in the game, you can unlock an Animal Shelter prepper. Here, you can rescue wildlife, drop them off, and even learn about different species in a kind of mini-zoo. You may accidentally learn some cool stuff about various animals!
Realistic Floods
Floods are not just visual effects. Rivers in Death Stranding 2 can overflow and form new paths, and the water can sweep you away if you are not careful. These floods even flow naturally into the ocean. It is both beautiful and deadly.
One thing is sure, with each new game, Hideo Kojima pushes the boundaries of what is possible. Death Stranding 2 is not just a game: it is like a living, breathing world, powered by the Decima Engine and filled with smart, often hilarious micro-details.
