News of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice receiving an anime adaptation has been circulating for years, but we’ve finally received a lead, which suggests that the adaptation might be forthcoming in the upcoming years.

Kodakawa Corporation, the parent company of FromSoftware, has registered a domain by the name of Sekiro-Anime.JP, which suggests that the development and marketing for a Sekiro anime adaptation is imminent.

A Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice Anime Is Likely In The Works

While there’s still no official confirmation regarding the progress of a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime adaptation, it is safe to assume that the initial groundwork for it has begun.

The domain was registered on July 31 and was last updated on August 5. Note that while the details show that the domain will expire next year, the company may simply renew it.

If you look up the registered domain on a web browser, it will simply lead you to a blank website. It suggests that they’ve only secured the domain for now, and further work on the anime adaptation project will be done in the future.

Developed by FromSoftware, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was released in 2019. The game later on went on to win the Game of the Year award for 2019, and has become one of the most popular titles of its genre.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice took on a slightly different approach than FromSoftware’s other games, namely the Dark Souls Trilogy and Bloodborne. However, despite being a new venture, Sekiro turned out to be a massive global success.

It remains to be seen when we’ll be able to hear an official announcement regarding the development progress of the Sekiro anime adaptation. However, seeing the domain being registered in its name is solid proof that the project is likely in the works.
