The devs of Ananta recently held an interview that dropped a ton of info on the upcoming open-world sandbox RPG, and honestly, it is looking insane. From story-driven characters to really cool combat and a city designed for chaos, there is a lot of content.
You can watch the following video if you want more information on the interview itself:
No Gacha, No Problem
First off, it is confirmed that character gacha is officially gone. Instead, every new character will have their own story, job, and activities, all fully playable from the start. Think slice-of-life RPG meets GTA-style freedom. You got cops, delivery workers, fitness trainers, even unemployed bums, and every role has its own unique progression system.
“You can live out lives you could never experience in real life,” the devs said, highlighting the game’s focus on immersive, individual character stories.
Gameplay That Puts You in the Action

Ananta’s combat is just as cinematic as it sounds. Players can pick up environmental objects, from trash cans to chainsaws, to wreak havoc. The TGS 2025 demo showed off car chases, shootouts, and destructible vehicles with fully interactive explosions. Each character also has a unique combat style, making every playthrough feel completely different.
The city itself is a modern, Asian-style metropolis inspired by places like Akihabara, designed to feel alive with a ton of stuff to do. And yes, the devs confirmed a heavy focus on story. You are not just following a single protagonist, but each character’s little stories.
Leveling, Jobs, and Progression
Every character levels up differently. Cops gain XP by arresting people, couriers by completing deliveries, and even the unemployed have gameplay mechanics tied to stamina and exploration. There may also be skill trees for combat and jobs, giving you multiple ways to grow the characters beyond just “leveling up.”

Monetization
Ananta is free-to-play, but there is no power-based gacha. Monetization comes through paid cosmetics, vehicle skins, home/furniture customizations, and optional limited-time cosmetic gacha.
The focus is on personalization over anything else, keeping the gameplay fair and accessible.
Expanding the World and Multiplayer
Solo or multiplayer, the city is just the beginning. Developers plan to expand with new towns, countryside zones, and regions, each with unique gameplay that will fit the local culture and environment.
Multiplayer will let you group up for missions, and solo mode focuses on character stories and activities.
A Dev Team With Big Ambitions

Ananta’s dev team is huge. It is around 700-800 people, and they are drawing inspiration from Jackie Chan movies, anime like Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen, and blockbuster action films. The goal is to make players feel like they are living out an anime action movie.
Why It Stands Out
With its non-gacha character system, job-based progression, and focus on living individual lives, Ananta promises to be a new take on the open-world RPG. The game has the possibility to offer everything you want.
