The day is finally here, the final hero release of Deadlock’s Old Gods, New Blood update has arrived. The votes are in, and Apollo is the 6th hero coming to Deadlock, following the release of Celeste & Venator.
Apollo Finally Graces Deadlock
Apollo is the final hero released as part of the Old Gods, New Blood rollout schedule. His kit centers on constant repositioning, precise timing, and, most of all, countering his opponents. Apollo’s kit shares similarities with Yamato’s, with half of his abilities requiring precise timing and execution, but like Celeste, he is difficult to pin down. He is also the first character to incorporate the Cursed debuff into his kit, and is the first hero to have a parry ability as well.
Here’s a quick breakdown of what Apollo can do:
- Disengaging Sigil: Draw a sigil in front of you, then leap backwards as it explodes. Enemies caught in the explosion are slowed, and fully upgrading it resets your Jump/Dash limit.
- Riposte: Prepare yourself to deflect the next oncoming attack. On a successful Deflect, become invulnerable and then dash forward, which stuns and reduces the bullet resistance of the first enemy hit.
- Flawless Advance: Perform 3 lunges, each dealing Spirit damage. But if timed perfectly, each strike will deal more damage. Each lunge can be performed separately and dashes you in a short direction.
- Itani Lo Sahn: Charge up a long range slash. Struck enemies are Cursed and are stuck in slow motion. After this effect expires, enemies suffer significant damage, even more if they are low health.
To get the most out of Apollo, players must master careful timing, precise execution, and strategic movement. It’s best to separate your Flawless Advance to reposition around your opponent, or use other abilities. The channel resets after each cast, so you don’t need to spam.
