Battlefield 6 is nearing the end of its first weekend of Open Beta, and the game has managed to surpass the peak concurrent player count of Call of Duty by crossing over 500,000 players playing the game concurrently on Steam alone.

Previously, Call of Duty held the peak player count of 491,670 players on Steam around 2.8 years ago, based on SteamDB’s stats. However, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta was able to reach a peak player count of 521,079 during its first weekend. Note that these numbers only represent the players playing the game on Steam.

Battlefield 6 Open Beta’s First Weekend Is A Massive Success

Battlefield 6’s first weekend of Open Beta was nothing short of exceptional, with the game crossing 300,000 users on the first day of Early Access on August 7. The servers were full, and many players were waiting in the server queue to join the game.

Despite EA requiring Secure Boot for the Open Beta to run, there were many reports of cheaters in the game. But that didn’t stop anyone, and as the weekend arrived, the number of players in Battlefield 6 Open Beta increased further.

The second weekend of Battlefield 6 Open Beta will start on August 16, and judging from the game’s popularity, we’d likely see the same numbers again, if not more.

Battlefield 6 is set to release officially on October 10, and if the successful Open Beta is any indication, it can be assumed that the game will perform well, at least on PC. For now, it’s clear that Steam users prefer Battlefield 6 over Call of Duty, but will the game be able to maintain its popularity and hype? We’ll simply have to wait and watch.
