Best Classes in Elden Ring: Nightreign – Tier List Breakdown:
Now that Nightreign is officially released, players are figuring out which classes (aka Nightfarers) stand out, and which ones are better left for challenge runs. With nine options to pick from, it helps to know what you are getting into before your first expedition.
Here is a quick look at the best Elden Ring Nightreign classes and how they compare so far, based on early impressions, community tier lists, and actual in-game performance.
S | Ironeye Ranged Specialist Duchess Burst Assassin Wylder Tanky Hybrid |
A | Executor Parry Bruiser Raider Slow, Heavy Hitting Recluse Elemental Caster |
B | Guardian Shield Support Revenant Spirit Summoner |
Now that you have the quick overview, here is a look at what each Nightfarer brings to the table in a bit more detail:
S-Tier – Best All-Around Picks
Ironeye
Probably the most reliable ranged option right now. Ironeye’s Marking skill boosts team damage, and Single Shot can stagger bosses or revive teammates. Great for solo or co-op; simple, effective, and hard to mess up.
Duchess
A fast assassin-style class that can repeat recent damage with Restage and stealth the whole party using Finale. Super fun in co-op, especially if you like high burst and fast movement.
Wylder
The balanced starter pick. Solid stats, a grappling hook for mobility, and Sixth Sense gives you a one-time “oops” buffer per run. Very beginner-friendly.

A-Tier – Strong, But Less Forgiving
Executor
High-risk, high-reward melee class. Can parry into massive damage with Cursed Sword, and his beast transformation ultimate is scary strong. But if you mess up parries, things can go bad fast.
Raider
Pure strength build with big, satisfying hits. Retaliate absorbs damage before countering, and Totem Stela boosts stamina regen. Just a bit slow compared to others.
Recluse
Your go-to caster. Uses a mix of elemental effects and combos with Magic Cocktail. Can do massive damage but takes time to set up; definitely not a face-tank class.
B-Tier – More Niche or Situational
Guardian
Tanky support with Steel Guard and a teamwide shield/heal from Wings of Salvation. Great in theory, but feels a little sluggish solo and not ideal for fast runs.
Revenant
A summoner-type with spirit allies and some healing. Can be strong with good micromanagement, but feels squishy without backup. Might get better later with upgrades.

Keep in mind that this is still early meta talk, but if you are starting out and want a class that feels rewarding right away, Ironeye, Duchess, or Wylder are the easiest to recommend. However, every Nightfarer is viable, especially with the right build and mentor setup. And, of course, it also matters whether or not you play solo or with friends/others.
