Big PvE Changes Coming to Dune Awakening’s Deep Desert

Dune: Awakening

In their latest dev update, the Dune: Awakening team confirmed that PvE-focused players will get new ways to enjoy the game’s endgame without being pulled into hardcore PvP. This is a big change from the original Deep Desert design, which was more competitive and guild-heavy than expected.

Partial PvE Zones Are Coming to the Deep Desert

You will still find hardcore PvP hotspots like shipwrecks and high-tier spice fields, but new “Partial Warfare” areas are being added to give PvE players more room to explore and gather safely.

  • These areas support T6 resource gathering and exploration
  • Full PvP zones are not going away
  • Weekly resets will keep things flexible, and player feedback will guide future tweaks

Ornithopter PvP Is Getting Balanced

The devs are reworking some of the air combat systems to make fights more fair and avoid frustrating vehicle spam:

  • Rocket ornithopters will be slower and generate more heat
  • Thruster boosts now apply equally across wings
  • A new T5 infantry rocket launcher is being added to help on-foot players deal with vehicles

Landsraad System Is Being Expanded

The Landsraad was designed as a big-picture system for PvE and PvP players, but the first version was a bit too simple. Upcoming updates will add:

  • Boss dungeons with real rewards
  • Contracts and delivery tasks
  • Small rewards for solo and small-group players

They also plan to fix stockpiling advantages, so big guilds will not always be ahead just for hoarding.

More PvE Content Is On the Way

The dev team says they are planning more dungeons, contract systems, and future expansions to keep PvE players engaged. They also emphasized that communication will stay open, and systems like the Landsraad and Deep Desert will evolve based on feedback.

If you like the survival MMO gameplay but prefer building, exploring, or questing over PvP, this update is good news! You will still have to plan and adapt, but now there is a clearer path forward, no matter how you want to play.
