After a long silence and the official cancellation of Blue Protocol’s Western release under Amazon Games, fans of the anime-style MMO can cheer up! The universe isn’t dead yet. A brand-new spin-off titled Star Resonance has just been announced, and it’s set to release worldwide this year on PC and mobile.

What Happened to Blue Protocol?

Blue Protocol was a beautiful anime-style online game made by Bandai Namco. It first came out in Japan and was supposed to launch worldwide with help from Amazon Games. Fans were excited, but things didn’t go as planned.

There were long delays, little communication, and eventually, Amazon decided to cancel the Western release. Beginning of 2025, it was the end of Blue Protocol.

Introducing Star Resonance – A New Beginning

Surprise! The story isn’t over. A new spin-off game called Star Resonance has just been announced. It’s being developed by a different team, Bokura, and it’s set in the same universe as Blue Protocol.

On top of Bokura, Tencent is involved as well, including the Japanese studio A Plus, responsible for games such as One Punch Man: World and My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero.

The best part? Star Resonance is launching worldwide in 2025 and will be available on PC and mobile devices. It will be an open-world MMORPG with dungeons, raids, various classes to play, and more!

So far, we don’t know everything about the game, but we recommend you take a first look at the official trailer:
