Borderlands 4 just rolled out its September 18 update, and the patch notes might not look like your usual bug fixes, but there is more going on under the surface.
From weekly rotating bosses to a traveling vending machine with exclusive loot, this update subtly changes the game toward a “live-service rhythm”, giving players new reasons to head back into Pandora every week. Here is what you need to know!
Weekly Rotating Challenges

- Weekly Big Encore Boss
- Tougher variants of familiar bosses with bigger, more rewarding loot pools. These bosses are perfect for players looking to farm high-tier gear.
- Weekly Wildcard Missions
- Existing missions get remixed with new traits and a guaranteed Legendary drop. Players can repeatedly run these missions to chase that perfect weapon roll.
- Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine
- Maurice keeps moving! Each week, his vending machine offers unique stock per player, so checking in with friends can help you find that rare gun you need.
Stability & Progression Fixes
- Crashes related to animations, audio, and GPU issues have been addressed.
- Fixed progression blockers in missions like “Talk to Zadra“.
- Reward Center now works correctly when claiming Gilded Glory Pack rewards.
Loot & Item Improvements
- Gilded Glory Pack weapons no longer appear in standard chests.
- Fixed incorrect “Doesn’t own DLC” warnings on non-DLC gear (console fix coming soon).
What This Means for Players
The September 18 update is not just patch notes, it also adds more depth and rewards to the endgame content. Players now have new reasons to log in weekly:
- Hunting rotating bosses
- Chasing guaranteed Legendary drops
- Checking where Maurice has set up shop
Combined with smoother gameplay and fewer crashes, Borderlands 4 is now feeling more alive than ever!
