The team at Chrono Odyssey ended the year by showcasing another round of major improvements they’ve been working on. These updates fall into several categories, including lightning, rendering optimizations, monster hitbox precision improvements, lock-on camera angle improvements, and more!
After the last closed beta test, the team was bombarded with feedback, and it seems like they are not only listening to this feedback but are actually making adjustments in-game to help prepare it for itf official launch (currently planned for Q4 2026).
Below are visual representations of some of these changes thus far.
Lighting Improvements
The team shared that one of the most significant updates made this far is their lightning system, which offers far greater freedom and control when shaping the mood of each area. Below is a quick preview of the lighting in certain areas before and after the updates.
Rendering Improvements
When it comes to the rendering improvements, the team at Chrono Odyssey addressed a handful of visual inconsistencies that testers found, and ultimately made surfaces and materials found throughout the world appear more natural. Character rendering, including equipment, weapons, and hair, have also been greatly optimized (visualized below).
Monster Hitbox Precision Improvements
One of the newest rounds of updates that was announced were the adjustments to monster attack hitboxes so they more accurately align with what players see on-screen. This was a common piece of feedback the team received after the most recent closed beta test, as testers had moments where visually the monster’s attack missed them, yet it still made impact.
Additional improvements made to the game thus far can be found within their official Developer’s Notes #3: End of 2025, which includes other areas such as lock-on camera angle improvements and more.
Stay tuned for more Chrono Odyssey updates, including more information on their next closed beta test!
