Code Vein 2 – Did Bandai Namco Make the Same Mistake Again?

Code Vein 2 is now available for pre-order on Steam, and longtime fans are already furious. The reason is that the sequel is listed as single-player only, with no co-op in sight.

Discussions on Steam exploded immediately, with a ton of players calling it a mistake. For many, co-op was the main selling point of the first Code Vein, and the absence in the sequel has left players feeling frustrated and uncertain.

Why Fans Are Worried

Many players are asking why co-op was removed if it was such an important feature in Code Vein 1. Some point out that multiplayer in the first game was not perfect, but for those who enjoyed it, it added a really cool feature, and it feels weird to have it removed from the sequel.

As one Steam user put it: “If the sequel has no co-op, then sorry, but no wishlist and no buy.” Early reactions show that a lot of players might not even buy the game once it releases; if there is no co-op option.

What We Know About Gameplay

Even without co-op, Code Vein 2 looks like it has plenty to offer. The story mixes both past and present. You try to stop the world from collapsing, and by your side is Lou, who can manipulate time.

Combat is still Souls-inspired, but anime. You can drain and acquire blood from enemies to use powerful skills. You can also customize your build to match your style. Partner characters also play a big role, fighting alongside you or boosting your abilities in important moments.

Thanks to new gameplay footage from Famitsu, we have already seen some exciting moments, including the new Rune Blade weapon, riding a bike across massive fields, and really cool character customization. Solo or not, the game promises a game with a ton of action and adventures.

Despite the co-op controversy, Code Vein 2 still looks like a solid experience. Epic battles, vast open fields, and a good story with powerful partners promise a lot for solo players. But for fans of co-op, the single-player-only listing might be a dealbreaker.

It is unknown if Bandai Namco will reconsider it, or if this marks a new direction for the series, but the Steam page has raised more comments than any gameplay reveal so far.
