Crimson Desert Is Bigger Than Anything You Have Ever Explored

If you thought Skyrim or Red Dead Redemption 2 were huge… Well, Crimson Desert is here to show you what massive really means. The developers have shared more details about flying on dragons, jetpacks, and much more. Some information about the map itself has also shown up, and it is absolutely humongous!

It turns out that the game’s map is twice as big as Skyrim and bigger than RDR2. Just thinking about that terrain is exciting, but also scary, so good luck exploring it all.

An Endless World to Explore

Traveling from one end of the map to the other takes 2 hours on horseback or a more reasonable 15 minutes on a dragon if you have one. That is just the beginning.

If you want to see the map’s scale, some players shared clips on social media like this one:

The map is only the tip of the iceberg because it is not the only huge thing. The game has over 2921 things to discover, including:

  • 467 unique encounters
  • 110 factions
  • 573 territories
  • 401 different creatures
  • 76 bosses
  • 29 mounts
  • 430 activities (main quests, side quests, mini-games…)
  • 150 resources to gather
  • 355 crafting manuals
  • 236 memory fragments to upgrade your skills

The developers even said that weeks of playtime might not be enough to see everything. If you did not know what to play until GTA VI comes out, Crimson Desert will definitely keep you busy until November.

A New Way to Explore

Crimson Desert is not just about numbers. The world’s size changes how you experience it. When you ride your horse, you enjoy the landscape. Dragon rides, on the other hand, let you appreciate the world in another way. Every faction, territory, and creature adds depth, making exploration feel meaningful.

Basically, if you like getting lost in living worlds, Crimson Desert seems perfect for that.

As a reminder, the game launches on March 19 on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC, so get ready to explore and possibly forget what the outside world looks like.
