Death Stranding 2 Adds Tiny Features That Make a Big Difference

Death Stranding 2 what you can do

If you thought peeing was the weirdest mechanic in Death Stranding 1… well, Death Stranding 2 has its own set of odd (but actually useful) things you can do. Some of these mechanics have been spotted in early reviews and livestreams, and a few players are already messing around with features that are easy to miss if you simply rush through the main story.

Here are a few cool things you can do in DS2:

Choose What Time You Leave Safehouses

One small but very handy change: when you rest in a shelter, you can now choose what time of day to head out. Morning, afternoon, evening, or night – your choice. Since visibility, BTs, and weather all change depending on time, it gives you more control over how risky your trip will be.

Customize Your In-Game Music

Yes, DS2 lets you control the soundtrack now. You can pick which songs play during your deliveries using a new in-game music player, which adds a bit of mood control to those long hauls. This is great, especially if you just want to listen to some music while taking in the beautiful (or scary) scenery.

Try Out Optional VR Training Missions

Early in the game, you unlock VR training missions that let you test out traversal, stealth, and combat systems. These are totally optional, but fun to mess around with if you want to try something new without risking a failed run.

The Map is Even More Useful Now

The in-game map has been upgraded, too. You can plot routes, avoid BTs more easily, and track structures or vehicles with more detail than before. These changes are quite significant, as they mean that you will not only rely on the map for navigation, but also for many other useful gameplay mechanics. Basically, you will most likely be using the map nonstop.

Aerial Camera Mode

At certain moments, especially when traveling long distances or driving, you can trigger a short aerial camera mode. It gives you a cinematic look at your surroundings, and it is a great way to appreciate the terrain or just enjoy the ride.

Tag Enemies and Mount Weapons

Combat has been upgraded in Death Stranding 2 with the ability to tag enemies, use holstered sidearms, and even mount weapons on certain vehicles. If you are into tactical approaches, this gives you more to work with, especially when you are not alone.

Death Stranding 2

Death Stranding 2 still has that classic Kojima weirdness, but it is also filled with tons of small changes that give you more ways to play your own way. There is a lot more room this time to do things exactly the way you want.
