Destiny 2’s Expansions Are Free to Play for a Limited Time!

If you have ever wanted to try out Destiny 2 but did not want to pay for all the expansions, now is your chance. From July 8 to July 22, Bungie is making every major Destiny 2 expansion free to play on all supported platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store.

That’s right! All the content that normally costs quite a bit, such as The Witch Queen, Lightfall, and even The Final Shape, is now completely free to access for a limited time.

What Is Free During the Destiny 2 Expansion Open Access

Here is everything you can play for free right now:

  • Expansions (Free until July 22)
    • Forsaken
    • Shadowkeep
    • Beyond Light
    • The Witch Queen
    • Lightfall
    • The Final Shape
  • Episodes (Free until July 15)
    • All three currently available Episodes

It is important to note that Pre-Forsaken content such as Curse of Osiris and Warmind is not included in this promotion, as those campaigns were vaulted and removed from the game.

Yes, You Keep Your Rewards!

Any gear, currency, cosmetics, Titles, or Triumphs you earn during this period are yours to keep permanently.

This free access period comes just ahead of The Edge of Fate, Destiny 2’s next expansion, launching on July 15. Alongside a new location (Kepler) and powerful gear, Bungie will introduce major changes to progression systems that will apply to all players, even if you do not buy the new DLC.

That makes now the perfect time to jump in, catch up on the story, and prepare for what’s next.
