The Dune: Awakening dev team just shared a big update on what they have been working on, and it covers everything from short-term fixes to long-term endgame plans. Between summer vacations, bug hunts, and exploit cleanup, it has been a busy stretch since early access launch – but things are moving forward!
If you are wondering what is coming after the first few patches, this update lays out the roadmap for Chapter 2, the upcoming Lost Harvest DLC, and the future of systems like the Landsraad and Deep Desert.
Chapter 2 and Lost Harvest DLC are coming soon
This week at Gamescom, the devs will be showing off Chapter 2 and The Lost Harvest, the game’s first DLC. Both are dropping in parallel, and even though they will bring new content and cosmetics, there is no new focus on endgame just yet, as these updates were already in development before launch.
What you can expect soon:
- Rename possibility for your vehicles, containers, and placeables
- Better rocket behavior for Ornithopters
- A hotkey to swap seats in vehicles (finally)
- All of this is coming to the Public Test Client soon

Short-Term Fixes for Some of the Most Frustrating Points
The devs are also rolling out several community-requested improvements. The goal of these is to improve quality of life and solve long-standing issues that have been frustrating players since launch:
- More detailed player logs (so you know who looted your base)
- Vehicle salvage system to recover lost vehicles
- Cobalt Paste nerf and more inventory slots for the Assault Ornithopter
- Instanced loot for Deep Desert Testing Stations to stop the queue wars
- Offline notifications for taxes and power (via email!)
Landsraad Is Being Rebuilt Into a Real Endgame System
Right now, the Landsraad is not doing much – and the devs agree. But that is about to change.
Starting in Chapter 3 and going forward, the Landsraad will become the main endgame progression system. Instead of random deliveries, it will move to contract-based missions tied to your faction rank.
Here is what they are planning:
- Rank up by doing Landsraad tasks across the map
- Check in with your Duke or Baron for special missions
- New activities will include assassinations, races, duels, control points, and more
- All tracked through a revamped Overland Map
Nothing is set in stone yet, but the goal is to offer a more rewarding and flexible way to play, including for solo players.
Deep Desert Is Heading Back to Its PvP Roots
The current Deep Desert formula is not working for everyone, and the team knows it. Over time, they want to bring it closer to the original idea: a sandbox PvP zone focused on spice control.
Future changes will include:
- No-fly zones to force ground combat
- New map layouts with more variety and challenge
- Clearer progression goals
- A more stable tech foundation to reduce crashes and lag
This rework will be a major focus in the second half of 2025, building on top of the Landsraad overhaul to create a more defined endgame structure.
What Else Is on the Roadmap?
In their last official update blog, the team also shared a look at their monthly dev cycle, which includes:
- Regular bugfixes and anti-cheat enforcement
- New features based on player feedback
- Ongoing QoL improvements and stability work
They are also actively listening – so, if you have ideas for what should be in the Landsraad (or how to improve other systems), now is a good time to share them on social media or Discord!
