Everdark Libra’s Madness Fight Will Break You If You’re Not Ready

If you thought his normal fight was chaotic, you are not ready for the Everdark Sovereign version of Equilibrious Beast. Here’s what you need to know about the boss if you don’t want to rack up madness in real life!

Everdark Libra feels like a step-up in difficulty compared to other bosses because of how confusing the fight is. Recent Everdark bosses felt pretty straightforward in the way players had to deal with them. Everdark Caligo forced players to use fire weapons to bypass its frost armor, while Everdark Augur only required a specific weapon skill granted during the fight itself. But Everdark Libra will need you and your team to adjust your strategy based on certain elements of the fight.

What Is Happening On My Screen?

If you fought Libra before his Everdark evolution, you probably remember that among Nightrein’s boss cast, his fight was one of the most challenging. His ability to summon Madness circles below your feet with close to no delay and the fast accumulation of Madness on players meant that you had to dodge a lot of attacks to avoid getting butchered.

Well… in this version, he keeps most of his old but adds a news twist: modifiers.

The start of the fight is the same: you enter the arena and a cloaked Libra will offer you various deals before the fight begins. In the same way, the fight doesn’t change until he reaches 80% of his health. After his meditation and a wide explosion, that’s when real mayhem begins.

After that, you will notice that in the top right corner of your screen, some chants will appear. This is Libra calling out different modifiers, and these will dictate how the fight will go. The first one will always be “A demon summons the Condemned”, and it will summon three mirrored versions of your Nightfarer squad. In my experience, they don’t always copy your exact weapons, but they will mirror the lineup you choose for the fight.

While you’re fighting your mirrored NPC, Libra will continue casting his usual spells, such as the Madness circles that appear under your feet, the rotating Madness attack, and his signature teleport attack.

What Does The Goat Say?

During this fight, you will notice that Libra has a wide range of modifiers, so here is a list and what they do:

  • A demon summons the Condemned: This summons the 3 mirrored Nightfarer NPCs. This is the one he uses the most. If you’re not quick enough to deal with them, there can be up to 6 NPCs at a time, so deal with them accordingly.
  • A demon preaches madness: Your attacks will now inflict madness on Libra. Take advantage of this modifier because of Libra’s weakness to madness. Be careful, because it will put him in his frenzy state, which can be challenging to dodge.
  • A demon incites a riot: Libra summons a cross-shaped attack that deals damage when it reaches the ground, and separates the arena into four spaces. You can cross the walls, but it deals damage, so be wary of that. The NPCs will also turn hostile to each other, which means they will attack other invaders, as well as Libra.
  • A demon shrouds all allies: This will turn your allies invisible. It can be quite tricky to deal with when trying to resurrect them, but if they have any visual buffs on them, you can still spot them.
  • A demon offers a false blessing: When you drink a flask to recover HP, you won’t lose a flask, but you will lose a level. This can happen 3 times, so be careful because it reduces your stats by quite a lot.
  • A demon offers a challenge: This one can only happen if Libra is under 50% HP. It reduces everyone’s HP to 50% including Libra and the invaders.
  • A demon reveals an inescapable eye: This one summons an eye above your characters, that will continuously build up Madness.

How To Deal With Everdark Libra?

First of all, you need to pay attention to the modifiers he chooses, because they will dictate the way the fight goes. For example, if you see the chant “A demon offers a false blessing”, be wary of your flask uses because if you use three of them, it means you are now three levels down.

Similarly to other Everdark bosses, taking advantage of the boss’s weakness is key. Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of Madness weapons, and unless you find a Madness encampment or encounter the eye of frenzy tower event (which is random), your chances of finding one are slim. But if you manage to find Vyke’s War Spear or the Frenzied Flame seal, you’re good to go.

But don’t worry, Libra’s weakness isn’t only spells and weapons with the Madness attribute. He is also weak to Holy damage, which is a lot easier to obtain and is not limited to certain Nightfarers.

I wouldn’t recommend playing Recluse or Revenant because of how reliant they are on magic damage. Libra has a high resistance to Magic damage, and while casting a strong spell, you’re almost sure that Libra will counter you with a Madness circle that will blow you from below.

As always, Wylder, Ironeye, and Duchess are the most reliable and easy-to-play Nightfarers to help you deal with Libra. Wylder’s well-rounded stats and mobility will allow you to deal with invaders and Libra’s attacks. Ironeye remains one of the top DPS Nighfarers in the game with great consistency. The Duchess’s rapid attacks and invisibility let you handle invaders easily while inflicting Bleed (though be careful, Libra himself has high resistance to it).

Tips And Tricks To Avoid IRL Madness

  1. Grab as much status resistance as you can

Madness is one of Libra’s main sources of damage, and having a lot of status resistance can help you deal with it. Whether it’s Clarifying Boluses, rewards from defeating a boss, or a lucky talisman you picked up from a scarab, they’ll be useful in the final fight. It won’t save you from Libra’s wild jumps or the invaders’ attacks, but it still helps you deal with him.

2. Don’t forget the little orbs on the ground

Libra will drop orbs during the fight, and while they don’t seem like much, more often than not, they can be the key to victory. They reduce Madness buildup and give you a small heal if you’re out of flasks. If you don’t have Clarifying Boluses, they’re your only way to handle Madness attacks. Invaders NPCs will also drop them on the floor when you defeat them, so don’t forget to grab them!

3. Your Nightfarer choice is key

As mentioned before, Ironeye remains one of the best to deal with Libra because of his mobility and high damage output. But this also means that he will be equally hard to deal with when fighting him, especially if you have two of them in your team. Alongside Ironeye, I would recommend Wylder, Duchess, and Executor because they can deal with invaders easily (be it with Wylder’s AOE, Executor’s fast-paced attacks, and Duchess’s invisibility).

Magic damage dealers like Revenant and Recluse are harder to play because of Libra’s resistance to magic and his AoE attacks.
