Everyone is looking toward this Thursday for the 60-minute State of Play. And although the event is expected to cover a lot of ground, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is at the top of the wishlist for many. This has led to a massive wave of predictions regarding what the final title of the trilogy might be.
The Search for the Final “Re” Word
The community has spent a long time, but especially the last few hours debating which word will follow Remake and Rebirth. Since the first two games established a pattern, the final entry almost certainly needs to start with “Re” as well.
Top Fan Predictions
There are a few frontrunners that keep appearing in the discussions. Final Fantasy 7: Reunion was a popular choice until most agreed that, since it was already used for the Crisis Core remaster, it would probably not make it into the title of another FF7 game. However, fans have found some strong alternatives:
- Final Fantasy 7: Reclaim – This is a favorite for those who think the story is about the party taking back their future.
- Final Fantasy 7: Requiem – A darker choice that fits the heavy stakes of the finale.
- Final Fantasy 7: Reborn – Simple and follows the naming convention of Rebirth closely.
- Final Fantasy 7: Return – A nod to the “Return to Midgar” segment from the original game.
Why a Reveal Might Finally Happen
The timing for a title reveal makes a lot of sense right now. We are roughly two years out from the launch of Rebirth, and Square Enix has a history of showing up at major Sony events with big Final Fantasy news. Even a short State of Play teaser that confirms the name would be enough to set the community on fire.
If we do see it on Thursday, it will likely be the “one more thing” at the end of the show.
