Final Fantasy VII Remake Director Promises a Satisfying Conclusion

During the Brasil Game Show 2025, Final Fantasy VII Remake director Naoki Hamaguchi was present, and he shared some new insight on the final part of the trilogy. He talked about the challenges of splitting the original game into three parts, teased the tone of the ending, and even hinted that Part 3 might be further along than we expect!

The information was spotted first by outlet wcctech.

Why Final Fantasy VII Became a Trilogy

Hamaguchi explained that the decision to split Final Fantasy VII into three games was not made lightly.
According to him, the original title had a massive potential, and a very loyal fanbase that simply made it impossible to fit everything into one modern remake without sacrificing important moments. And that would have been something “fans would never forgive.”

He described the move as a “difficult but necessary” choice. It allowed Square Enix to properly retell the entire story with today’s technology. This also allowed them to develop additional characters and side stories, that were maybe too hidden or forgotten about in the old game.

A “Satisfying” Ending for Everyone

The most exciting part of what Hamaguchi said is when he discussed the ending. He revealed that he already knows how Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 will “end”. He truly believes the conclusion will satisfy both those who loved the 1997 classic, and the ones who started with the Remake series.

This new game will be loved by everyone,” Hamaguchi said confidently. It is definitely a very bold statement! It has everyone even more curious about what is coming next.

Development Progress and a Possible “Twist”

Last year, Hamaguchi also mentioned that Part 3 will include a unique “twist” to make it stand out from Remake and Rebirth, but he never shared any details about this, and did not mention it again either.

Meanwhile, co-director Tetsuya Nomura recently also confirmed that both FF7 Remake Part 3 and Kingdom Hearts IV are progressing smoothly and staying on schedule.

Given that Rebirth released in 2024, so four years after Remake, many now expect Part 3 to arrive around 2027 or 2028.

Could a Reveal Be Coming Soon?

With Hamaguchi speaking so confidently about the ending, some players believe Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 might already be deep in development. And with the series now expanding to new platforms like Xbox Series X/S and the Nintendo Switch 2 in January 2026, there is a chance Square Enix could be preparing for a bigger reveal sooner than expected.

For now, players are simply hoping that Hamaguchi’s promised “satisfying conclusion” will truly deliver the ending this legendary story deserves.
