During a recent developer livestream, we got a first real look at Aion 2’s gameplay! The short video shows a character flying through huge, detailed environments with seamless transitions between ground and flight. The flying animations feel nice and natural, and the world itself looks massive and full of potential for exploration.

The game is being built in Unreal Engine 5, and visually, it offers a magical, colorful look that received mixed reactions from players.

You can take a look at the video here:

Flight Mechanics & Combat Reactions

Flying does look very smooth, but some players would have loved if the stream showed aerial combat as well! Some also noticed a flight timer limit, raising questions about how much freedom the system will actually allow.

The combat part focused on an archer class, but feedback was mixed:

  • Some players enjoyed the dynamic, fast-paced skill effects.
  • Others felt the animations were overly chaotic, “twitchy,” and lacked impact.
  • Concerns were raised that the archer’s abilities looked too magical, feeling more like a sorcerer than a physical ranged class.

Requests are already coming in for footage of other classes, especially melee combat, to see more variety in the gameplay.

Mixed Opinions on Aesthetics & UI

Character design also got some feedback, and some players pointed out that the UI looks a bit too cluttered and overloaded with buttons, giving off strong “mobile MMO” vibes.

The majority of players already love the colorful, magical visuals, despite others finding the style outdated or too similar to other Korean MMOs like Throne & Liberty or Revelation.

Community Concerns & Monetization Worries

Beyond graphics and gameplay, there is big discussion around potential monetization. Longtime MMO players are afraid of pay-to-win systems or cash shop abuse, pointing to NCSoft’s history. Some even suggested a subscription model to avoid the pitfalls of free-to-play economies.

Many still remember Aion 1’s strong launch that later suffered from monetization changes, and they are watching closely to see if history repeats itself.

As of now, there is no confirmed release date or open beta timeline for Aion 2, and players are hoping for launch details soon. You can expect more updates in future streams.

For now, Aion 2’s first gameplay reveal has shown a game with pretty cool flight mechanics and a vast world, but its long-term success will likely depend on how it handles combat, optimization, and monetization.
