Compile Heart has announced an upcoming reveal for a new “School RPG“, and the team behind it immediately caught people’s attention. The project is led by Kouji Okada, Atlus co-founder and one of the original creators behind Megami Tensei and Persona.
The game should be fully revealed on January 29, and even if there are no details so far, Compile Heart describes the project as “Kouji Okada’s final message to the next generation.” This definitely makes this feel like more than just a teaser announcement.
Former Persona and Megami Tensei Creators
Alongside Okada, the project brings together a few other names from ATLUS’ early days:
- Scenario: Tadashi Satomi (Persona: Revelations and Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment scenario writer)
- Music: Tsukasa Masuko (Megami Tensei, Megami Tensei II, Shin Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei II, and more)
In addition to the former ATLUS creators, Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045 and The Wonderland) also joins as Character Designer. So this is not just a case of “former Atlus staff” put onto a press release. It is a group of creators who helped make the identity of early Persona and SMT, back when those series were still finding their voice.
