FOX HUNT Brings Stealth PvP to Metal Gear Solid Δ

Konami used Tokyo Game Show 2025 to surprise fans with a completely new online mode for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. Called FOXS HUNT, it is not a revival of Metal Gear Online, but a unique take on multiplayer built entirely around stealth, survival, and jungle mind games.

(Konami stylizes the name as FOXS HUNT, tying it to FOX Unit from Snake Eater’s story. However, most fans are already casually referring to it as “Fox Hunt.”)

A Different Kind of PvP

FOX HUNT supports up to 12 players in teams of two. Instead of focusing on pure gunfights, the mode is about deception, camouflage, and clever movement. Every player gets the AT-Cam, a portable ghillie suit that can be switched to blend into different environments, and Naked Sense, a stamina-based tool that reveals items and enemy positions. Using it too long leaves you vulnerable, so survival often comes down to timing and patience.

Two Main Game Modes

  • Survival Capture: Players fight over Kerotan items, and anyone without one when the phase ends is eliminated.
  • Survival Intrude: Players must stay inside a Ga-Ko-marked zone. Combat is optional, but failing the mission objective gets you Fulton’d out.

Both modes highlight stealth over firefights, giving FOX HUNT a very different vibe from typical multiplayer shooters.

Rewards and Replay Value

Victories unlock disguises, camouflage patterns, voice lines, and even full-body costumes. The mode is made in a way that encourages repeat playthroughs with cosmetic rewards rather than just stats.

Why FOXS HUNT instead of MGO?

Developers explained that a full Metal Gear Online revival would be too resource-heavy as a side project. FOX HUNT was born as a way to make more use of Snake Eater’s jungle setting while still offering a long-term multiplayer experience. The team promised updates and patch support post-launch.

FOX HUNT launches October 30, 2025, as a free addition to Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater. It may not be MGO, but it looks set to deliver a new kind of stealth multiplayer for fans to sink their teeth into.
