TGA 2025: GOTY Nominees Revealed – One Game Breaks Historic Record

Jaym0's Avatar by Jaym0

The Game Awards 2025 nominations just dropped, and Geoff Keighley did not hold back this year. All categories got revealed at once, but of course the big one everyone runs to check is Game of the Year!

2025 was full of amazing games, from massive AAA titles to indie studios breaking records with their creative, innovative games. Picking only a handful was definitely not an easy job. However, here is the complete list of nominees for Game of the Year 2025!

Game of the Year 2025

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  • Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
  • Donkey Kong Bananza
  • Hades II
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong
  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

This year we have a surprisingly indie-heavy lineup, and honestly, we love to see it. And yes, my personal pick is obviously Expedition 33, but for once, all the nominees feel like they genuinely earned their spot at the top. Whoever wins, it will feel deserved.

We would have loved to also see Split Fiction and Ghost of Yotei among the Game of the Year nominations, but the competition was hard this year. Hopefully they will still walk away with a few awards!

Most Nominated Games at TGA 2025

On top of the category reveals, Geoff Keighley also shared surprising information! One game just broke the record for the most nominations in TGA history, with a total of 12, and it is none other than our personal favorite, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33!

However, Expedition 33 is not the only game that was nominated multiple times:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – 12 nominations
  • Death Stranding 2 – 8 nominations
  • Ghost of Yotei – 8 nominations
  • Hades II – 6 nominations
  • Hollow Knight: Silksong – 5 nominations
  • Split Fiction – 4 nominations

Voting is open now, if you can get in! You can vote right now on thegameawards.com, but fair warning, the website is already getting overloaded. If your vote does not go through, maybe try again later when the servers stop melting.

The Game Awards 2025 will be live on December 11, so get ready for the usual chaos, surprises, and at least one “world premiere” that will break Twitter/X.
