There is a lot more hiding in Ghost of Yotei than you might think. Between sneaky accessibility settings and some really cool cinematic tools, players keep finding new ways to make the game their own.
If you want to make your adventure through Hokkaido a bit smoother, here are some settings and secrets you will definitely want to check out.
Reduce Motion Sickness
Sucker Punch recently shared a quick tip for players feeling dizzy or uncomfortable during long play sessions. If you are looking for motion sickness settings in Ghost of Yotei, head under Controls and put the following settings:
- Camera Speed: Slow
- Camera Wobble Intensity: Reduce to 0

It is a small change that can make a huge difference, especially during horseback chases or fast combat sequences where the camera tends to swing around a bit too wildly.
Try the “Director” Visual Modes
Beyond the comfort settings, Ghost of Yotei includes hidden visual options that can completely change the mood of the game. Some players discovered ways to replicate the look of samurai films, with stronger contrast, grain, or even different camera filters.
They are hidden under the Visual or Display Settings, and they are perfect for screenshots or more cinematic runs.
You can choose from different modes that do different things:
- Miike Mode
- Inspired by the films of acclaimed director Takashi Miike.
- Adds more mud, more blood, and uses a tighter cinematic camera.
- Watanabe Mode
- Inspired by the acclaimed anime director Shinichiro Watanabe.
- Features original Lo-Fi music created under the direction of Watanabe.
- This mode will replace the original soundtrack of the game with a unique Lo-Fi music sequence.
- Kurosawa Mode
- Turns Ghost of Yotei into a black-and-white samurai film.
- Applies a film grain, audio filtering, and enhanced wind effects.
- Aimed to create the look and feel of Akira Kurosawa’s 1950s cinema.
Fun Little Easter Eggs
On top of some useful settings, there are also a few Easter Eggs that can be found in the game, including:
- Jin Sakai Reference at Oshima Coast. Jin is the protagonist from the first game. You can start the Mythic Tale called The Storm Blade, and it will lead you to a gravestone that has the Sakai’s family emblem on it. The quest also rewards with a Ghost Mask, Stag Helmet, and new Weapon Kit. It is a nice nod to Tsushima!
- Infamous 2 Painting – Located in Tokachi Range, at the Amber Respite Shrine.
- Complete the Shiro the Swindler bounty, and you will obtain a Sly Cooper mask. You can also find a Sly Cooper painting.
- Miyamoto Musashi – In real life, the legendary swordsman Shinmen Takezō, better known as Miyamoto Musashi once he became a Ronin, was famous for his double-sword technique. In Ghost of Yotei, you can follow a questline all about “Takezō, the Unrivaled,” that ends in a really hard boss fight. Like Musashi, Takezō fights with two blades. This is a nice little nod to the legend… who will absolutely destroy you if you are not ready.
- Death Stranding Mask – You need to complete all the Shrine Climbs in the game.

None of these affect gameplay, but they show just how much care Sucker Punch put into every single detail in the game!
From cool visual changes to sneaky Easter Eggs, Ghost of Yotei is full of things waiting to be discovered. So do not rush it! Climb every mountain, peek behind waterfalls, and poke around the map. You never know what kind of secret Sucker Punch hid out there!
