Character action game fans watch out. GPTRACK50, a studio established by Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, unveiled their first game in the Video Game Awards pre-show. Leading with a rock track straight out of the mid 2000’s, Stupid Never Dies showcased a monster-mash of colorful combat. While details are scant, here’s what we know so far.
Not that Kind of Zombie Game
In Stupid Never Dies, players take control of a zombie named Davy, living at the bottom of a monster-run society. Venturing through a dungeon to save Julia, a frozen human girl, the game promises fast-paced combat most CAG fans will know and love. Listed as an action RPG, one of the key mechanics involves stealing enemy abilities and incorporating them into Davy’s combat. The game is currently slated for a 2026 release date, though no specific period has been set.

GPTRACK50 is only two years old, but the studio doesn’t lack for experience. In an interview with Automaton Media, Lead Engineer Shinya Shigeyoshi revealed the majority of staff have at least 15 years in the industry. Studio founder Kobayashi said that players should expect gameplay that “…Capcom titles in terms of the quality of the 3D action. The game’s strategy, game loop and similar aspects are shaping up into something we can be confident about.” Though he clarifies that the title isn’t a “stylish” game like Devil May Cry and won’t be as dependent on combos. Development on the game has been going quickly, with Kobayashi crediting the speedy development on a “systems-first” approach to game design, leaving graphics for last.
