A huge, detailed new leak about GTA 6 is currently making the rounds, revealing what could be some of the biggest design changes that Rockstar has made in years. Set in a modern-day Vice City (Rockstar’s take on Miami), this version of GTA is sounding like a more grounded, focused experience than many of us expected. The leak (if true) touches on gameplay systems, cut content, and how the tone of the game has changed.
The leak comes from GameRoll on X, who previously got the main characters’ names right, but the rest is secondhand info, so take it with a grain of salt.
Combat, Characters, and the Two-Protagonist System
The new leak reaffirms the dual protagonist system, where you can control Jason and Lucia either together or solo. Some missions will even require teamwork, and you can apparently switch between them freely or use them both in the open world for things like coordinated robberies. Think of it like the character-switching from GTA 5, but a bit more intertwined.
Jason reportedly has a Dead Eye–style ability that slows time and highlights weak points, while Lucia gets a toned-down version of it. The idea is to reflect Jason’s military background, although fans in the Reddit thread were not impressed with the imbalance. You will also find that NPCs react when you aim at them, and the Greet/Antagonize feature from Red Dead Redemption 2 is back, giving us more interaction options on foot.
There is also a relationship meter; again, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2’s honor system, which might change how the story plays out, depending on your status.
Combat is said to feel more grounded overall. You can carry fewer weapons at once, with spares stored in your trunk. Driving is reportedly the best it has ever been, and the gore/dismemberment system is being expanded on top of RDR2’s tech.

What Is Missing, And What Players Are Talking About
Not everything is making the cut, though. A few things that were listed in the leak caused a bit of a debate, especially from players who, apparently, like a little more chaos in their GTA.
Here is what might not be in the game at launch:
- No prone movement, which some fans were hoping for after recent shooter-style improvements in other open-world games
- No dual-wielding, despite past speculation
- No music outside of vehicles, even though Jason is shown wearing AirPods (seems like it was intentional, not a technical limitation).
- No full nudity or sex scenes; though strip clubs, including male dancers, are still confirmed
- No burglary mini-game, although house looting (like in RDR2) is still possible
- No Disney World parody, which some fans were hoping for as a satire target
These removals have led to mixed feelings across Reddit. Still, the world sounds massive. The leak also mentions:
- A large portion of Florida (now called Leonida)
- 700+ explorable shops and interiors (though some doubt the number)
- Underwater areas with secrets and treasure
- Shopping malls, skyscrapers with working elevators
- The map is reportedly an island again, with no Florida panhandle

How Much Can We Trust This Leak?
This came from GameRoll, who previously leaked the protagonists’ names correctly. Still, the info comes from a secondhand source claiming to have a friend inside Rockstar, so take it with a grain of salt. Rockstar is also known for spreading internal decoys to stop full leaks, so not all (if any) of this may end up in the final game.
Here is the full Reddit thread where this leak is being discussed:
However, the tone of the leak and the community response, does raise real questions about how GTA 6 might feel different from the chaotic energy of GTA 5 or San Andreas.
And if you are curious how all this might tie into the story, we also looked at fan theories about how Jason and Lucia’s journey could end.
