A new insider update is making the rounds online right now, sharing where Grand Theft Auto 6 currently stands behind the scenes. According to Jason Schreier, the game is still not content complete, and even Rockstar does not appear fully certain about the November release window.
Schreier shared the update during a recent podcast, noting that developers are still actively working on missions and final content decisions.
November Feels Possible, But Far From Locked In
Schreier said that it is genuinely hard to say if GTA 6 will release in November. He does not believe anyone at Rockstar is 100% confident they will hit that date.
At the same time, however, he described the current window as feeling more real than earlier targets like Fall 2025 or May 2026. The difference is that the game is now much closer to the final stretch, even if it is not there yet.
Missions Are Still Being Finalized
One of the most important details is that development is still ongoing in a, reportedly, meaningful way. Missions are being finalized, content is still being added, and the team is deciding what makes it into the final build.
Schreier said he hopes Rockstar can move fully into bug fixing soon, but until the content side is locked, that phase cannot fully take over.
Rockstar Will Not Rush This Release
According to Jason Schreier, Rockstar cannot settle for anything less than a polished release. And that makes sense as the pressure is enormous, especially with Take-Two Interactive depending heavily on GTA 6’s success.
Because of that, Rockstar would rather let the game slip again than release it in a compromised state. Take Two fiscal year runs until late March 2027, which gives the studio some scheduling flexibility if needed.
Even if that leads to another delay or a release in early 2027, most players would probably rather wait a little longer at this point. Especially if it helps GTA 6 live up to its massive expectations.
PlayStation Remains Central To The Plan
Schreier also mentioned that Sony Interactive Entertainment is treating GTA 6 as a major pillar of its future games lineup. PlayStation remains the main platform focus, with Sony planning around the release.
GTA 6 feels close, but even now, the November release is not something to be certain of. The finish line is visible, but the exact date might still be moving.
