First on PC, Demo Now Headed to Consoles
With just a month to go until its full release, Hell is Us is getting a demo on August 12th for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. In addition, a PC demo, previously available during Steam’s Next Fest in June, will also be available at that time. And for players demanding the most out of visuals, the updated PC version can run 4K at 60 FPS. Those interested will have two and a half weeks to play through the demo before the game’s September 4th launch date.
A New Take on Souls-Likes
Developed by Montréal-based studio Rogue Factor, Hell is Us is a 3rd-person action game promising a different spin on the souls-like formula. Set in an unnamed country against the backdrop of civil war, the player must unravel their mysterious past whilst battling supernatural creatures. One of the biggest things Rogue Factor is emphasizing in Hell is Us is the approach to exploration. There will be no map, compass, or quest markers. It’s up to the player to discover the game’s myriad secrets for themselves.
Hell is Us is the biggest game yet from Rogue Factor, with their previous two titles being licensed Warhammer games. Mordheim: City of the Damned released in 2015 and Necromunda: Underhive Wars came out in 2020 to mixed reviews. Hell is Us, by comparison, is an original work that looks far more complex than anything Rogue Factor has made previously. Will it be the next big souls-like? We’ll find out next month. And no, there will be no Switch 2 demo.
