Getting an A-Rank in the global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is quite a challenge, but it is definitely possible with the right strategy. There are a few rules that you should follow, and you’ll be able to get past 10,000 rating to get an A-rank in the Career Mode with ease.
For now, it is difficult to get an A-rank or higher in the Career mode because most of the powerful Support Cards haven’t been released in the global version of the game. Getting an S rank is also near impossible, at least for now. Additionally, since Umamusume: Pretty Derby has only launched globally recently, many players don’t have strong Legacies to use yet.
Even if you can borrow an A-rank Legacy with good Sparks from another player, you’ll need one of your own Legacies with good Sparks to perform well enough.
How To Get An A-Rank In Umamusume: Pretty Derby
There are two major things that affect your rating and rank at the end of a Career playthrough: your Uma’s stats and their skills. Getting an A-Rank is significantly easier with a sprinter, such as Sakura Bakushin-O. Because, with Sprinters, you only have to focus on Speed, and you can get pretty good Speed Sparks from them if you’re lucky.

Sparks are assigned randomly at the end of a Career playthrough. You have to be lucky to get a triple-star Spark for any of the stats that actually matter, be it Speed, Stamina, or Power. If one or more of your stats are at least S Rank by the end of a Career playthrough, the chances of your Umamusume getting an A-Rank significantly increase.
Picking A Strong Legacy
When it comes to choosing Legacies, you can pick one of your own. You can also borrow one from another player, but for only a limited number of runs per day. If you’ve got good Legacies of your own, you can use both of your own Legacies to start your Career playthrough.

Make sure the Legacies you’ve chosen at least provide a 20+ stat bonus on one of the stats. It’s significantly better if the stat bonus is for two or three stats. But even if it’s for one, then it’s good enough.
Choosing Support Cards
Picking the right Support Cards is crucial for stat gain. You can’t just select Support Cards at random and expect to get higher than B or B+ Rank in the Career mode. You have to pick five of your own Support Cards, and you have to borrow one from another player.
Now, you also have to check if these Support Cards are off the stats that you’re going to focus on in the Career. There’s no need for equipping an SSR Support Card with a Guts stat icon if you’re not going to train Guts even once.

Check the details of your Uma’s stats to find which stat she has a growth bonus on. Most characters in the game have a 20% growth bonus on one stat and a 10% growth bonus on another, but there are exceptions to this.
In the best-case scenario, your Uma would have a 20% growth bonus on Speed or Stamina. Now, you have to pick Support Cards that are aligned with the stat that you want to focus on. If you want to focus on Speed, you can select all six Speed Support Cards or opt for a mixture of four Speed and two Wit Support Cards.
Make sure you do the rainbow training as many times as it becomes available. Multiple rainbow training gives you an insane stat bonus, which can help you cross 1000 or even reach the 1200 stat cap.
Learning The Right Skills
You can earn Skill Points by training and winning races. You will need Skill Points to unlock skills. Training only increases Skill Points slightly, so if you want to learn many skills, you’ll have to take part in many optional races and win.
The more skills you have, the higher your chances of getting a better rating and rank at the end of your Career. However, races consume a turn, which can be used to train your stats. Training stats are equally important for getting an A-Rank or above for your Umamusume.

So the best way to go about it is to weigh your options on every turn. Did you get a rainbow on your preferred training? If not, it’s best to go for a race instead.
Furthermore, if you’re learning skills, focus on the gold-highlighted ones as they play a major role in higher ranking, compared to conditional skills. You can spot conditional skills by their green icon, and learning them isn’t worth it unless you really need them or don’t have any other skill to invest in.
But most Support Card skills, such as Swinging Maestro, Professor of Curvature, and Gourmand, are good skills that can significantly boost your rating and ranking.
