Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like, a dog collar… for a chicken. No one said chickens were not allowed to wear collars! And if you want Scrappy, your trusty pet rooster, to level up in ARC Raiders, this oddly specific item is essential.
And finding it? Well … that is a little tricky.
A Small Item With a Big Job
Scrappy is not just a cute companion. At level two and beyond, he passively scavenges crafting materials whenever you are topside. That means even if your loot run goes sideways, you will not walk away empty-handed. But to get him started, you need that rare dog collar.
Where to Find the Dog Collar
Since it is a rare (blue) recyclable item, random looting might not cut it. Focus on residential areas in these two main maps:
- Buried City: Grandioso Apartments, Red Tower, Santa Maria Houses
- Blue Gate: Raider’s Refuge, Ruined Homestead, Village
Also, keep an eye out for tables, desks, and chairs, because dog collars can spawn as loose items, and they can often be found on things like a table or a desk.
To make spotting it easier, you can also use the “Train Scrappy” → “Track” option in the Workshop. This adds a small diamond icon to the item card when you find a dog collar, so it will not slip past unnoticed.
After you get the collar, put it in your safe pocket. This protects it if you die or fail to extract.
What to Do Once You Get the Dog Collar
Once you have your dog collar, simply head back to the Workshop to train your chicken and give the collar to Scrappy.
This will allow you to upgrade him further. After that, you will need fruits, specifically lemons and apricots, to level him up! Yes, Scrappy is a demanding chicken!
So, hunt smart, track your loot, and soon your chicken companion will be working as hard as you are.
