The Career Mode in Umamusume: Pretty Derby presents its unique challenges. If you don’t know how to build your Umamusume, you’ll likely stumble and struggle to even reach the Ura Finale, let alone win it.
Oguri Cap is one of the more popular characters from the game, and she even has her own spin-off Anime titled Umamusume: Cinderella Gray. However, winning with her in the game isn’t easy unless you know how to level her stats.
Preparations – Oguri Cap

Oguri Cap runs long-distance races, and you’ll have to balance out her stats to win with her. She gets plenty of time to take part in optional races, so you can also make her reach the Legend level by gaining over 320,000 fans by the end of her Career.
Legacy
Legacies are what’s left behind of your Umamusume once they’ve completed a Career run. These legacies can provide stat buffs and allow your character to learn certain skills.

For Oguri Cap, you want Legacies that increase her Speed, Power, and Stamina stats. It’s even better if you can get someone like Taiki Shuttle or Mejiro McQueen’s legacy, because their ultimate skills can help Oguri Cap get into a better position during the later part of the race.
Support Cards
Similar to Legacies, you have to select Support Cards before your Career run begins. These Support Cards provide stat bonuses and also allow your character to learn certain skills. You can select up to five of your own Support Cards, but you’ll need to borrow the sixth from another player.

Oguri Cap needs to level multiple stats, so there’s no fixed formula for how many Speed or Stamina Support Cards you should use. As long as you have a Super Creek SSR Support Card, or borrow one, you can make it through the Career.
Skills

Oguri Cap’s own ultimate skill, Triumphant Pulse, is extremely powerful, but its activation requirements are strict. You want to be in a good position, while also saving enough Endurance for the last stretch. As such, most of the skills you learn during your career will be dependent on these factors.
Skill | Description |
Triumphant Pulse | Oguri Cap’s ultimate skill. It activates when Ogrui Cap is in a good position in the last 200m of a race. It is powerful, but the significant boost it provides isn’t enough to win some races on its own. |
Homestretch Haste | This skill slightly increases your velocity at the end of the race. Paired with Triumphant Pulse, it works incredibly well. |
Corner Recovery / Swinging Maestro | Both skills are avaialble if you use a Super Creek SSR Support Card during your run. These skills allow your Umamusume to recover some Endurance on corners. |
Corner Acceleration | This skill allows Oguri Cap to increase her speed slightly while turning corners. It helps her gain a better position towards the end of the race. |
Strategy
Oguri Cap can run both Pace Chaser and Late Surger strategies. However, the Late Surger strategy is generally better for her. It allows her to conserve her Stamina and use her Power to get in a good position quickly.
Stats
Oguri Cap has a 20% growth bonus on the Speed stat and a 10% bonus on Power. For Oguri Cap, you want her Speed to be higher than her other stats, but you also have to balance out Power and Stamina, while also giving proper attention to Wit.

If you’re doing everything right, your stats should look like this by the beginning of the Ura Finale Qualifier:
Stats | Range |
Power | 600+ |
Stamina | 500+ |
Power | 500+ |
Guts | 300+ |
Wit | 400+ |
Ura Finale Career – Oguri Cap

In Oguri Cap’s Career, you’ll have plenty of choices for which races to enter. You only have to win her last two Goal-related races; otherwise, coming in the Top 3 is fine.
Junior Make Debut
Right from the start, focus on training Speed and Stamina. Level Wit instead of resting too often.
Earn 3,000 Fans
If you’ve won your debut race, you’ll have 1000+ fans right away. For the rest, you’ll have to take part in optional races. You should focus on training your stats in the initial turns and only race when only three turns are remaining.

NHK Mile C.
This will be your first challenging race. Luckily, if you manage to place in the Top 5, it will be enough. Focus on increasing your stats and keeping Oguri Cap’s mood up. Before the race, you’ll strike Inspiration, which will further increase your stats.
Mile Ch.
You’ll get 12 turns before Mile Ch., and after three turns, the summer camp will begin, and Oguri will go to the beach to train. Here, you have to make the most out of your time. All types of training are enhanced during the Summer Training Camp, so focus on increasing the stats that you’re struggling with or go all in on Speed.

Keep in mind that you’ll only get one turn before the next goal. If there are any skills you want to learn, start leveling your Wit.
Arima Kinen Top 3
Arima Kinen will be the toughest challenge you’ve faced so far in your career, and if you can make it in the Top 3, that’s good enough for now.
Placing in the Top 3 in 2 G1 Races
This is a unique goal, since you have to pick out the G1 races yourself. You get 12 turns for it, so for the first few turns, you should focus on training. After that, check for upcoming G1 races and start taking part in them.

The sooner you finish this goal, the more freely you’ll be able to train for the rest of the turns.
Tenno Sho (Autumn)
You’ll immediately go to Summer Training Camp. Here, you have to further solidify your strengths. Make sure you’ve learned all the necessary skills by now, because you have to come in the first place to progress ahead with the Career.
Arima Kinen
Oguri will be taking part in the Arima Kinen again. You get three turns before the race begins, and by now, your stats should be looking good enough. Learn any skills you think will allow help you perform better on the racecourse, such as Condition and Endurance skills.
Ura Finale

Right after the Arima Kinen, you’ll get three turns before the Ura Finale Qualifier begins. During this time, you cannot take part in any optional races, so simply focus on enhancing your stats and improving her mood so she can perform at her in the races.
As the Ura Finale progresses, you’ll get one turn of break after the Qualifier and the Semi-Finals. Avoid anything that might ruin her mood before the Finals.
Oguri Cap shouldn’t face any problems in the finals, even if she’s not the favorite. If she’d made it this far, she can win the finals without issue.
