Capcom has officially opened a new 30th Anniversary website for the Resident Evil franchise, celebrating three decades since the original game’s release on March 22, 1996 for the PlayStation 1. The page is rather minimal right now, with just a mysterious “Coming Soon” teaser and amazing new artwork. However, it woke up the entire Resident Evil community, who jumped at the chance to come up with tons of theories!
What Is on the Website?

- A really nice anniversary logo mixing the Umbrella symbol with a gothic archway design.
- A second logo featuring a cartoon raccoon wearing sunglasses marked with “30th Anniversary.”
- A large commemorative artwork showing:
- Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Ada Wong, and newcomer Grace Ashcroft (the lead protagonist of the upcoming Resident Evil: Requiem).
- Each character is seated on ornate, tarot-style thrones, surrounded by main monsters and hidden details.

Missing Faces & What That Means
Notably absent is Ethan Winters, the protagonist of Resident Evil 7 and Village. Some people think that might mean Capcom is moving the story in a new direction, with Grace Ashcroft stepping in as the next big main character.
Some fans think it is just because Ethan’s face was never really shown, or that the artwork only highlights characters who might appear in Resident Evil: Requiem. Ethan was never tied to Raccoon City anyway. He was just the guy trying to save his family. Meanwhile, every character in the artwork has a connection to Raccoon City, and we already know Grace will be heading back there too.
Fan Theories from the Artwork
Players have already dissected the anniversary art down to the smallest details:
- Behind the characters:
- Claire – Licker
- Chris – Uroboros
- Jill – Nemesis
- Ada – Simmons
- Grace – Mysterious new creature, possibly tied to Requiem
- Leon – Fans debate between Mr. X, Saddler, or even Krauser.
- On the floor in front of the thrones, other players spotted items like herbs, ink ribbons, first aid sprays, shotgun shells, and even tiny references like a Salazar statue, Mr. Raccoon toys, and what may be Illuminados symbols.
Future Remakes?
The artwork also got people talking about remakes again. Since both Claire and Chris are front and center, a lot of fans think Capcom might be hinting at a Code Veronica remake. Previous leaks also hinted that both Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero remakes are in the works, with a possible release window around 2027-2028.
For now, Capcom has only left the page with a simple “Coming Soon“. But with Resident Evil: Requiem arriving on February 27, 2026, we can expect a few more surprises next year!
