It’s Bold, It’s Crazy, and It Was Just Announced During Summer Game Fest 2025!

This year’s event was like opening a loot box that contains both a legendary weapon and a rubber chicken. It had the emotional weight of a heartfelt indie story, the hype of massive AAA returns, and the kind of energy you’d expect from a raccoon on espresso. Yes, it was both disappointing and insane.
Yes, we’re still thinking about that one game where you play boxing Muppets and why someone thought this was a good idea. And yes, we’re absolutely writing about all of it.

Let’s break down the most exciting, and the weirdest, announcements from this year’s Summer Game Fest weekend!

The Best Game Announcements

If you skipped the show and just want to know which games to keep an eye on while you refresh for Hollow Knight: Silksong, Final Fantasy VII Part 3, or Kingdom hearts 4 news (sorry, still not here), these are the highlights:

  • Jurassic World Evolution 3
    • It is finally time to build our own Dinosaur park again.
  • Dying Light: The Beast
    • New sequel in the parkour zombie series.
  • Mixtape
    • A narrative-driven teen adventure with a 90s soundtrack. It may make you want to actually go to your High-school reunion!
  • Scott Pilgrim EX
    • A new 4-player co-op game with characters from the comic universe. It’s cute, it’s fun, it’s everything you need.
  • Mindseye
    • A narrative open-world game from ex-GTA developers. While it’s not GTA VI, it may fill the void until that one releases.
  • Hitman – Le Chiffre
    • A 30-day event mission set in a Parisian casino, inspired by Casino Royale. If you want to spy and take down Mads Mikkelsen, this one’s for you.
  • Stranger Than Heaven
    • 1943 Japan noir detective adventure, for any investigation and Japan fan!
  • Resident Evil: Requiem
    • The next entry in the Resident Evil series. Let’s be honest, this was the biggest reveal this year.
  • The Outer Worlds 2
    • Kicked off the Xbox Showcase with stylish sci-fi sarcasm and a confirmed release date. Obsidian is cooking again.
  • Persona 4 Revival (Remake)
    • The long-rumored glow-up is real, and it’s looking stunning.
  • Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
    • A surprise spin-off that somehow looks more intense than the original. Rats? Yes. Trauma? Also yes.
  • Beast of Reincarnation
    • Game Freak (yes, that Game Freak) is making something that isn’t Pokémon, and it’s looking weirdly good. If only they would put that much effort into Pokémon as well…
  • Clockwork Revolution
    • A gorgeous steampunk RPG that will remind you of BioShock Infinite.
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake + FFXVI on Xbox
    • After years of “please Square,” Xbox players finally get some fantasy too.
  • Cronos: The New Dawn
    • If you needed a new horror game to ruin your sleep schedule, congrats, it’s here.
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
    • Milo Ventimiglia joins the franchise, and somehow it’s not the weirdest thing announced.
  • The Blood of the Dawnwalker
    • A dark fantasy RPG aiming for that “Witcher 4” crown. It looks stunning, and you can play a Vampire.
  • Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive
    • It’s no longer mobile-only, and that’s great news for console action fans.
  • Indiana Jones DLC
    • The fedora is back.
  • Aphelion (by Don’t Nod)
    • A wonderful indie surprise that had people yelling “Wait, what was THAT?” in the chat. From the makers of Life is Strange, this time we’re going to Space!
  • Planet of Lana II
    • The sequel no one expected, but everyone’s happy to see.
  • At Fates of End
    • lf Spriritfarer made you feel all kinds of things, this one may too.

The Weirdest & Craziest Announcements, But Honestly Kind of Amazing

Because Summer Game Fest isn’t just about blockbusters. It’s about the unhinged stuff that sneaks up and makes you question reality. And this year delivered hard.

  • Felt That: Boxing
    • Ever wanted to box as a Muppet? Your dreams either came true, or you will have nightmares for a few weeks.
  • Super Meat Boy 3D
    • He’s back. But now he’s in three dimensions. Somewhere, a developer is crying trying to balance this.
  • Animal
    • A trailer so cute and mysterious, we’re still not sure if it’s a game or a therapy session in disguise.
  • No Ghosts At The Grand
    • Is it horror? Is it a hotel simulator? Is it actually about ghosts or not? We don’t know. We love it.
  • Mudang: Two Hearts
    • Stylish, mysterious, and looks like it might summon spirits and emotions.
  • Keeper
    • We don’t know what it is. We just know it screamed “World Premiere” and everyone clapped.
  • High on Life 2
    • Somehow louder, weirder, and more chaotic than the first. The talking weapons are now singing? Probably.
  • ILL
    • A hyper-realistic horror game. Ever wanted to be chased by weird zombie babies? Well here you have it.
  • Xbox Portable Console Reveal (ROG Xbox Ally)
    • Everyone thought it was fake. Microsoft said “lol no” and dropped a handheld collab with ASUS. It’s real. It’s stylish. And it’ll probably cost a kidney.

Summer Game Fest 2025 might not have brought everything we wanted (looking at you, Square Enix), but it gave us enough chaos, beauty, nostalgia, and nightmares to last until Gamescom.
