Kingdom Hearts IV is still in development, and fans have been dying for any new info! It has been ages since the third game dropped, and we still barely have a trailer, release date, or anything, really.
Well, that might be starting to change. A Reddit leak just surfaced showing a screenshot of an internal Square Enix document with the early possible worlds for Kingdom Hearts IV. The leak comes from “reliable” source inside Square Enix and apparently shows the worlds they were considering back in the early “Quattro” development days.
The insider also says Disney has really strict quality rules, so the final worlds might end up different. Worlds marked with (仮) are just guesses for now. Disney did not sign off on them yet.
How Disney Selects Worlds
The leak highlights that Square Enix initially proposes a list of desired Disney worlds, and Disney gives preliminary approval. In subsequent meetings, worlds may be:
- Confirmed if the scenario fits Disney’s standards
- Adjusted or replaced based on Walt Disney Company guidance
- Sometimes entirely discarded, even if the Square Enix team had already started working on them
Some previously discarded worlds may appear in future projects, including concepts from the cancelled Missing Link project. The insider also mentions that KH4 will include elements like a keyblade or Heartless from Missing Link.
The Current List of Worlds
The leaked screenshot shows the following worlds (translated or Romanized where possible):
- The Final World – Refers to the Final World of Kingdom Hearts 3
- Quadratum – The equivalent of Shibuya, shown at the end of Kingdom Hearts 3
- The Mysterious Tower – Yen Sid’s Tower
- Underworld – Hades’ world in Hercules
- Moana – Possibly Moana’s Island Motunui
- “Princess and Magic Kiss” – Possibly The princess and the Frog, maybe?
- RW_01 (Game Central Station) – Should refer to Wreck-It Ralph
- RW_02 (Niceland) – Wreck-it Ralph
- RW_03 (Cybug Sector) – Wreck-It Ralph
- RW_04 (Candy Kingdom) – Wreck-it Ralph
- Most of the Wreck-it Ralph worlds are already present in Kingdom Hearts: Union X [Cross]
- Zootopia – Refers, of course, to the movie of the same name
- Metroville – The Incredibles
- Merida – From Brave, so possibly the Kingdom of DunBroch
- Inside World – Most likely from Inside Out
- Land of the Dead – Coco
- Wall-E – Distant future Earth world maybe?
- Galaxy World – Star Wars?
- Scala Ad Caelum – Original world introduced in Kingdom Hearts 3
- Radiant Garden – Also known as Hollow Bastion, it was introduced in Kingdom hearts 2
- Destiny Island – Known world in the Kingdom Hearts series as it is the home world of Sora and Riku
- WF – Unknown. We were thinking about the Disneyland WF Cody Railroad, so maybe some sort of world inside a train?
A lot of players noted that some beloved but less mainstream worlds, like Emperor’s New Groove or Treasure Planet, are not on the early list. This caused some disappointment, but everything can still change!
This leak does not guarantee that all these worlds will appear in KH4, but it offers a rare glimpse into Square Enix’s development process and Disney’s involvement. It also confirms that resources from the cancelled Missing Link project are being recycled, promising some surprises for long-time fans!
