The leaks were true, and the internet nailed it—Leon Kennedy is officially back in Resident Evil Requiem. Fans have been going back and forth for months on whether Leon would return to the franchise, but the guessing game is finally over.
Leon Returns to Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom dropped its newest Resident Evil Requiem trailer during The Game Awards, confirming that Leon is stepping back into the spotlight alongside Grace Ashcroft as one of the game’s two main protagonists.
For some fans, this wasn’t exactly shocking. Leon’s return has been rumored for months, even leaking right before the show began. But those early debates had weight. In a previous interview, the RE9 director mentioned that Leon is such a seasoned veteran that it’d be tough to genuinely scare him with “fresh horrors,” which made people question whether he’d fit the tone they were aiming for.
On the flip side, the team also admitted that Resident Evil 7 was “too scary” for many players and expressed concerns that RE9 might push things a bit too far—even for long-time horror fans. So they likely found some way to make him fit, or at the very least, contrast the type of horrors each character will face.

Adding fuel to the fire, recent leaks suggest this might be Leon’s final mainline appearance. Resident Evil Requiem also has rumors to wrap up the current timeline entirely, which explains why we’re returning to Raccoon City one last time.
For now, all we can do is wait to see what Capcom has in store for Leon Kennedy and Grace Ashcroft. In the meantime, keep an eye on our Other Games section for more updates as they drop.
