Aside from Telltale, few studios have minted their success on narrative games the way Don’t Nod has. Building off the back of Life is Strange in 2015, the French developer/publisher has since produced ten more titles, including Life is Strange 2. Following this year’s release of Lost Records: Bloom & Rage (another story-heavy game), Don’t Nod has announced a new partnership with a big name: Netflix. They’ll be working to develop a new game based on one of the streaming giant’s original programs.
Stranger Things Game Incoming?
Netflix is infamous for its scattershot approach to original series. While the early days of its streaming service were known for high quality control, Netflix’s strategy since 2013 has been to flood the airwaves with as much content as they can license. Still, within the endless deluge of originals, one stands out as prime candidate.
Stranger Things, arguably Netflix’s most recognized original, jumps out as the obvious choice. Its 80’s nostalgia setting with heavy supernatural elements isn’t too far away from a game like Life is Strange, making it a good fit for Don’t Nod. It also fits the developer’s penchant for featuring teenage/young adult protagonists. And for Netflix, a Stranger Things game will keep the IP profitable after the series concludes in early 2026. At least, until they resurrect it for a spin-off, probably.

Beyond Stranger Things, it’s less clear what show this upcoming game could be based on. Safe to say Don’t Nod probably isn’t keen on making an Orange is the New Black video game, and House of Cards is off the table, assuming there’s no die-hard Kevin Spacey fans in their offices. Their fans may be more interested in the sort of setting Stranger Things offers, as opposed to something grittier. In any case, the project was just announced and may be years off, so we’ll have to wait for more news.
