Marvel Rivals 5.5 Patch Breakdown: New Abilities & Major Balance Changes

Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 is almost there, and alongside Rogue, the newest Vanguard character joining the roster, comes a wave of balance changes and team-up changes. Season 5.5 rolls around on December 12th, so here’s what you need to know so you can prepare for the coming storm!

Marvel Rivals Season 5.5 Changes

Vanguard Changes

Vangurd’s not getting a ton of changes this time around, but there is some pretty impactful stuff here for Thor and The Thing.

Firstly, Peni Parker and Emma Frost are getting straightforward health adjustments. Thor’s Storm Surge is getting adjustments, now letting him redirect his movement mid-cast—guess they picked up a trick or two from Zombies mode. And The Thing is getting the biggest bump of the bunch: his Haymaker will hit tanks noticeably harder, and his anti-mobility field is sticking around longer, increasing from 3 to 5 seconds.

Duelist Changes

Duelists are getting a much larger list of changes in comparison to Vanguards, but the biggest changes are coming to Blade, Human Torch, and Scarlet Witch.

Blade is getting straight damage boosts across the board, with higher single-hit sword damage and a stronger Whirlwind Slash. Bloodline Awakening’s healing reduction is also seeing adjustments. Psylocke and Phoenix will need more charge for their ultimates, Wolverine’s ultimate can now target walls for his landing point, Punisher gets a minor damage bump, and Daredevil loses the bonus health from Team-Up Anchor.

Human Torch gets a tighter projectile spread on Fire Cluster, along with tuning the falloff, while Blazing Blast charges faster and hits harder. Scarlet Witch is also seeing buffs: Chaos Control charges more quickly, Dark Seal’s projectile speed is going up, and her ultimate now has a stronger pull-in effect.

Strategist Changes

As for Strategists, Ultron and Luna Snow are getting some brand new abilities and huge changes. But before that, let’s cover the smaller changes. Gambit, Invisible Woman, and Rocket’s Ultimates are getting more expensive. Loki’s clones will now deal increased healing and damage.

Luna Snow gains a brand-new ability to her Idol Aura. She can now place the Idol Aura on herself, and while active, 10% of the healing she delivers is converted into healing for herself, and she also receives a 10% boost to both healing and damage. Her snowball attack now has faster windup and increased projectile speed, making her even more formidable.

Ultron is finally getting some love, too. He can now deploy two drones, and his Firewall ability now grants the primary target a 20% movement speed boost and a 10% damage boost. On top of that, his ultimate costs less, letting him hit harder, faster, and smarter.

Season 5.5 also shakes up the team-up roster. Emma Frost’s previous team-up is being cut, and she’s moving into the Chilling Assault team-up. Psylocke joins Sword of Duality, while the newly introduced Rogue slides into Gambit’s Explosive Entanglement. These changes open fresh strategies and new ways to dominate the battlefield.
