Meet Sierra: Overwatch’s Next DPS Threat Arriving in Season 2

It’s been a week since Blizzard dropped the hint for Hero 51, and after the initial cinematic reveal yesterday. Today, fans finally got their first look at the newest DPS character coming to Overwatch, Sierra. Players will also get to try her out soon, when Season 2 starts on April 14th.

Sierra Joins Overwatch

Sierra is joining Overwatch as the newest DPS hero, with the Recon subrole, bringing unmatched verticality that will give Pharah or Widow players a run for their money. She also packs a ton of explosives to deal a lot of burst damage to clumped-up teams, but her deadliest ability is Tracking Shot, which has already sparked debate in the community.

Tracking Shot causes her to fire a dart, which, if it lands on an enemy, will cause all of her bullets to automatically track and find their way to the target, just like Soldier 76’s ultimate. Not only that, but her Helix Rifle’s accuracy increases the longer you fire, making Sierra an ideal mid-range character.

However, her ultimate Trailblazer, in comparison to her Tracking Shot, seems a little underwhelming. In contrast to being able to deal guaranteed damage to a single enemy, a slow bombing run from one of her drones does have some good potential when comboed with other ultimates, or around objectives. However, at least from initial impressions, it looks underwhelming; hopefully, some perks could change that.

An Early Look at Sierra’s Perks

Speaking of Perks, we already know some of her perks ahead of the official launch.

Minor (Level 2):

  • Full Flight
    • Increase Anchor Drong flight and grapple ranges by 25%
  • Tight Grip
    • Helix Rifle’s bullet spread tightens 100% faster and widens 30% slower.

Major (Level 3):

  • Medi-Drone
    • Anchor Drones hold a small health pack that can heal Sierra.
  • Locked In
    • Firing Tracking Shot increases your attack speed by 20% for 2 seconds.

Locked In already seems like a fan favorite, ensuring that anyone who gets hit by your Tracking Shot will surely melt even faster. Full Flight also sounds like a very handy upgrade for getting out of bad spots or to help flank on more open maps.

But what do you think of Sierra? Is Tracking Shot already giving you headaches? Be sure to let us know and keep an eye on our Other Games section for more news and updates.
