Mejiro McQueen Can Breeze Through Ura Finale—If You Build Her Right

Mejiro McQueen Before The Race Starts In Umamusume: Pretty Derby.

Mejiro McQueen is one of the characters in Umamusume: Pretty Derby who uses a slightly different approach to winning than most other characters. Mejiro is fast and consistent, but only if you build her right.

Winning the Career Mode with her isn’t difficult once you know what to do. You get enough turns to shape Mejiro into a true endgame threat, and more turns mean that you’ve also got plenty of time to focus on other stuff that isn’t as important, such as taking part in optional races to raise fans.

Preparations – Mejiro McQueen

Before you begin the Career Mode with this elegant Umamusume, you’ll have to select the relevant Legacies and Support Cards for her. These define how your stats scale and what late-race skills you’ll unlock.

Legacy

Legacy is basically any of your other characters that have completed the Career Mode in the past. You can also borrow Legacies from other players a few times every day. However, you also have to be wary of the affinity of these characters and the stat boost they provide.

Legacies trigger up to three times at max. It happens at the start of the Career Mode, providing you with an initial stat bonus. After that, it will occur twice during the training as you prepare for tough races.

You can select any character’s Legacy that increases her Speed, Stamina, and Wit stats, but Taiki Shuttle is huge here, it turns Mejiro into a second-half monster. Taiki Shuttle’s Shooting For Victory skill grants a decent speed buff towards the last spurt, which allows Mejiro to get in a better position.

If Mejiro McQueen’s default skill and Shooting For Victory activate together, there are only a few obstacles that she can’t overcome.

Support Cards

Support Cards give stat boosts and unlock key race skills. When it comes to Mejiro McQueen, you’d want to focus on Support Cards that increase her Speed and Stamina stats.

It is recommended that you use the Super Creek SSR Support Card with Mejiro McQueen. Super Creek SSR provides several skills, such as Corner Recover and Swinging Maestro, which allow Mejiro to maintain her pace throughout the race.

However, if you can manage to get these skills with your Legacies, then you can swap Super Creek out for another Support Card of your choice.

Skills

You should focus on any skill that allows you to recover some endurance during the race. Any skills that let her get in a better position towards the end of the race are a good choice for her.

Try to grab these key skills to smooth her path to the crown:

SkillDescription
The Duty of Dignity CallsThis is her default skill, which only activates if she is positioned towards the front in the last spurt. You’ll need to make sure she remains in a good position with her other skills and stats distribution
Shooting for Victory! You’ll need to use Taiki Shuttle as a Legacy to obtain this skill. It works similarly to Mejiro McQueen’s default skill and requires you to be in a good position for it to activate. However, this skill isn’t as strict compared to Duty of Dignity, and, as long as you’re ahead of half of the pack, it will activate.
Corner Recovery/Swinging MaestroThese skills allow Mejiro McQueen to recover some endurance while turning corners, and can drastically improve her Stamina consumption.
Homestretch HasteThis skill slightly increases Mejiro McQueen’s velocity in the last spurt. Combining it with Duty of Dignity Calls and Shooting for Victory, there’s hardly anything that can surpass her in the last spurt.
Stamina to SpareStamina to Spare is a Pace Chaser skill that decreases Mejiro McQueen’s Stamina consumption in the early race.
HydrateHydrate is another skill that allows Mejiro to recover some endurance. It activates mid-race and further strengthens her stamina consumption.
Corner AdeptCorner Adept works similarly to Corner Recovery, but instead of reducing Stamina consumption, it allows Mejiro to gain some extra speed in corners.

Strategy

Mejiro McQueen runs best as a Pace Chaser. For that, you’ll need to increase her Stamina and learn the skills to get ahead in the last spurt of a race while maintaining her endurance.

Stats

Mejiro McQueen needs to focus primarily on Speed, Stamina, and Wit. She has a default growth bonus of 20% on Stamina and 10% on Wit. While training her, you should try to keep her Speed and Stamina close in numbers, while focusing on Wit as her Energy decreases.

The following are how your stats should look after completing her final goal:

Speed600+
Stamina500+
Power350+
Guts200+
Wit350+

Ura Finale Career – Mejiro McQueen

Mejiro McQueen gets a lot of turns between her goals for you to train her and get her ready for all the tough races she has to face during her Career.

Junior Make Debut

Mejiro McQueen gets 11 turns to settle in before her debut race. Focus on unlocking 1 key skill and building up Speed + Stamina early. The goal in this race isn’t to win, so you shouldn’t worry too much even if Mejiro McQueen doesn’t win the race.

Earn 3000 Fans

Right after the debut race, you’ll get 12 turns to increase her fans to 3000. You should try to focus on training her, and only take part in races in the last 3 days. The Hopeful Stakes Race on the final turn gives a massive boost of 7000+ fans. If you manage to come in the top 3 of this race, then your goal should be pretty much complete.

Kobe Shimbun Hai

Before this race begins, you’ll get 17 turns to train. During this time, you can focus on improving her strengths. After training for 6 turns, she’ll get her Inspiration, which will further strengthen her stats. You can also use this time to take part in optional races and aim for that Legend spot.

During the last 5 turns, you’ll get to the beach. Here, every training you do is automatically turned into a Level 5 training, so you can increase whichever stat she is currently lacking.

Kikuka Sho

After completing the Kobe Shimbun Hai race, you’ll get only a single turn before Kikuka Sho begins. However, you shouldn’t worry. If she crushed Kobe, she’ll breeze through this too.

Tenno Sho (Spring)

You get 11 turns to reach this goal. Before this race begins, you should try to get your Speed to 500 and your Stamina to at least 450+. You should have also learnt most of her necessary skills by now because, from now on, she has to remain a top performer consistently.  Before this race begins, you’ll get your last Inspiration.

Takarazuka Kinen

Takarazuka Kinen comes shortly after Tenno Sho (Spring), and you should further focus on improving her stats.

Tenno Sho (Autumn)

After the Takarazuka Kinen, you get 7 turns before the Tenno Sho (Autumn), which will be her last goal. You’ll immediately go to the beach after the last race, so use this time to prepare all your stats for the final races.

Ura Finale

Before the start of the Ura Finale Qualifier, you’ll get 5 turns, and only a single turn of rest after each race from now on. You should give the finishing touches to your stats and learn any relevant skills that will help you perform better in the finals, such as Firm Conditions or Wet Conditions.

Even if she’s mid-tier in popularity, trust the build, she can still sweep! Furthermore, after every race in the Ura Finale, you’ll gain a significant stat boost, which will help you perform better in the final race of the Career.
