The troubled launch of MindsEye, a semi-open-world action game from Build A Rocket Boy, has caused a few waves of controversy. However, it seems like it is on its road to redemption!
What Is Happening With Mindseye?
According to a report by IGN, Leslie Benzies, the studio’s CEO and former GTA Online producer, recently addressed the team in a short internal call held in July. During the meeting, Benzies reportedly acknowledged the difficult launch and promised that the game would eventually be relaunched in the future.
But what caught attention most was an alleged claim that the game’s failure was partly due to “saboteurs”, both inside and outside the company. Benzies isn’t the first from the studio to hint at this theory. Back in May, Build A Rocket Boy’s co-CEO Mark Gerhard said there was a “concerted effort” to damage the game’s reputation even before its release.
However, MindsEye’s publisher, IO Interactive, has pushed back against the previous claims. CEO Hakan Abrak told IGN: “I don’t believe that. I just think the game should speak for itself.”
An Upcoming Relaunch?

Many players will agree, with or without sabotage, MindsEye did not land well. Reviews have pointed to things like multiple bugs, poor performance, and other issues. As the studio reportedly deals with layoffs and refund requests, it is unclear what a “relaunch” would even look like, or if it will be enough.
For now, the future of MindsEye remains uncertain, but as they told IGN:
“We’ve watched hundreds of hours of gameplay footage and reviewed player feedback across multiple channels to prioritize the most pressing issues and improve the experience for all our console players.”
It is clear that the team over at Build A Rocket Boy are working hard on fixing the issues with the game, and we can expect a better re-launch soon. After all, other games who had a rough launch turned out to be a very big success afterward, such as Cyberpunk.
