Capcom kept fans busy at TGS 2025 with new trailers and dev talks for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. The third entry takes the spin-off in a bigger, darker direction, mixing classic Monster Hunter vibes with a story-driven tactical RPG.

A World on the Brink
The story starts with a strange petrification spreading across the land, pushing two nations – Azuria and Vermeil – toward disaster. Your journey begins with the discovery of a supposedly extinct Rathalos egg, which hatches into twins. One becomes your Monstie partner, Ratha, setting you up as Azuria’s only Rathalos Rider.
As a prince or princess of Azuria and captain of the Rangers, you will protect monster ecosystems, investigate “egg quartz” anomalies, and explore the forbidden Northern Meridian region.
Meet the Cast
The game brings a new cast of allies and rivals:
- The Protagonist – Customizable in appearance, hairstyle, and eye color, this character is the only Rathalos Rider in Azuria and a skilled Ranger dedicated to preserving monster ecosystems.
- Eleanor – Princess of Vermeil who becomes both ally and hostage, bound to her own Monstie.
- Simon – Your loyal childhood friend, always at your side.
- Thea – A rookie Ranger with a love for Poogies, adventuring with her pet Pookie.
- Amara – Your mother, once the queen of Azuria and founder of the Rangers.
- Arken – The stoic King of Azuria, keeper of Wyverian traditions.
- Rudy – Your Royal Felyne companion, serving the family for generations.
Exploring With Monsties
Exploration is bigger this time, with open environments designed like adventure courses. You will swap Monsties on the fly to fly, climb walls, or smash through obstacles. You can even attack wild monsters on the field before combat to grab an advantage.
Tactical Combat Returns
Turn-based combat is back with Power-Speed-Technical matchups, but there is more depth:
- Head-to-Head & Double Attacks to charge your Kinship Gauge.
- Breaking monster parts to disable abilities and get rare loot.
- Wyvernsoul Gauge that staggers monsters when depleted.
- Synchro Rush after a topple for massive damage and fast Kinship gain.
The result is a mix of timing, prep, and strategy that makes every fight feel rewarding.
Release Date and Platforms
Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection launches March 13, 2026, on PC (Steam), Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Between its darker story, Monstie riding, and tactical depth, it looks like it is going to be the kind of RPG that fans lose themselves in for months.
