Most Mario Kart World Sales Came From Switch 2 Bundles

Mario Kart World - Nintendo Switch 2

Mario Kart World’s Huge Numbers Are Mostly Thanks to the Switch 2 Bundle!

Mario Kart World has already hit 5.63 million sales, but here is the thing: almost 80% of those copies were bundled with the Nintendo Switch 2. That means only about 1.13 million players bought it as a standalone title. Nearly 77% of all Switch 2 units shipped came with the Mario Kart World bundle.

According to data shared by @gibbogame and picked up by multiple analysts, only around 1.13 million copies of Mario Kart World were sold as standalone purchases. The rest (about 4.5 million) came through the official Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle.

It Is Not Surprising When You Look at Mario Kart’s Legacy

This strategy is not surprising; Mario Kart has always been a go-to launch title for Nintendo systems. And even though they never actually called it “Mario Kart 9,” Mario Kart World is clearly the next mainline entry. Bundling it with the Switch 2 was a smart move to boost both hardware and software right out of the gate.

For context: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best-selling Switch game of all time, with 68.2 million copies sold, and a combined total of 76.6 million across Wii U and Switch.

That legacy, paired with the fastest-selling Nintendo console launch ever (3.5 million Switch 2 units sold in four days), makes it quite obvious as to why the bundle strategy is an easy win.
