New Deadlock Patch Adds 6 Heroes, New Mode, & Patron Reworks

The day is finally upon us. After months of datamining, speculation, and drawn-out waiting from the community, Deadlock has finally dropped its new patch, Old Gods New Blood. This update brings several major changes to the game, including overhauled Patrons, bases, a brand-new game mode, and six new heroes.

New Blood

Much like the last major update to Deadlock, we got six brand new heroes. Much like last time, the community needs to vote on which heroes will drop every week. So expect to see two new faces in the Big Apple every week. From the six, the community can vote for:

  • Silver, who appears to have the ability to transform into a werewolf
  • Rem, Deadlock’s smallest support hero, likely centered around sleeps.
  • Graves, a necromancer with a focus on area denial.
  • Apollo, a high mobility fencer.
  • Cellste, a dazzling, disruptive performer.
  • Venator, a tactical devout monster hunter.

Two heroes will be chosen every week. So expect a new hero to drop every Monday and Thursday at 2 pm starting January 26th.

Old Gods

The Patrons and their respective bases have gone through a complete overhaul. Now, on either side of New York, we have the Hidden King and the Arch Mother.

The stretching shadow of a skyscraper… a boarded-up apartment in Hell’s Kitchen… The Hidden King exists in the cracks of the city, waiting for his followers to usher him into the light.

Glass, steel and stone… Order and power where once there was none…
The Archmother has always guided the founders’ hands, and now it is time for them to welcome her home.

Deadlock already has dozens and dozens of voicelines between the Patrons and each playable character; perhaps this update will bring additional or entirely new lore since the Patrons have been kept somewhat in the dark.

Also, both sides of the Big Apple and their minions have been given a major facelift to match their new masters.

New Game Mode

This update is also bringing Deadlocks first ever alternitive game mode. Street Brawl is a fast-paced 4v4 battle where you fight the opposing team over a best-of-five match. With each round taking only a few minutes.

Players will choose from a selection of random items, adding three to their inventory each round. However, each team starts with the same amount of resources, which means no farming.

Extra Features in the New Deadlock Patch

With the Old Gods, New Blood patch, we are also getting several new quality-of-life features, including a Postgame screen, UI improvements, and a rework of settings and keybinds.

The Postgame screen for Deadlock has also been updated. The new patch features a new MVP scoring system and a summary of your noteworthy endeavors.

The UI now features reactive portraits, which change based on how you are doing in-game. This includes going on a kill streak or whenever your character is critically damaged. There’s also some new damage numbers and custom channel bars for character-specific abilities. But that’s not all, we’ve also gotten:

  • Steam Game Recording
  • Updated Scoreboard
  • Objective Health Bars
  • Mid Boss Timers
  • Random Hero Button
  • Rejuv Duration Timers
  • Visibility Outlines

Thats not all, the overall settings have gotten a lot of updates. Players can now set Hero-specific keybinds; there’s a search bar in the settings menu, along with reticle control and an FOV slider. There’s a lot to unpack with the new Deadlock patch, so if you want the full details, look at the full blog here.
