Nightreign Performance Issues Reported on PC – What You Should Know
Elden Ring: Nightreign is finally in the hands of content creators and early access players, but some are already running into frustrating technical issues, even on top-tier hardware.
Multiple reports across Reddit and X/Twitter describe FPS drops, stuttering, and frame pacing issues, especially for users running RTX 40-series and RX 7000 GPUs.
“I’m getting 40–60 FPS on a 4090 and i9-13900K with frame drops every few seconds,” one player wrote on Reddit, one of many similar reports across r/Games and r/Eldenring.
Players also often mention: “Nightreign is stuttering even worse than the base game. I’ve tried every graphics setting, but nothing helps.”
At this point, most players suspect that shader compilation and asset streaming might be behind the issues, similar to problems seen in the original Elden Ring PC release. In response, Bandai Namco posted a performance advisory, warning players of known issues with certain hardware setups and promising future optimization updates.
What Can You Do?
If you are planning to jump in at launch and want to minimize the chances of performance issues, here are a few early recommendations:
- Update your graphics drivers before starting the game on official launch day (later today). Both NVIDIA and AMD are expected to have released optimized drivers.
- Avoid alt-tabbing during loading screens – this has been known to cause stutters or soft crashes.
- Limit background apps that might interfere with system memory or CPU usage.
- Consider capping your framerate to 60 FPS if you are noticing frequent fluctuations.
Although performance issues at launch are not unusual, it can be quite frustrating to see even high-end PC players struggling with frame drops and stutters in Nightreign. The good news is that FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have acknowledged the issue, so a hotfix will probably arrive soon.
We will keep monitoring community reports and will share more updates once a patch rolls out. Until then, you might want to temper expectations on day one performance, especially if you are playing on PC.
