Square Enix has revealed that Octopath Traveler 0 Collector’s Edition is now live for pre-order with a price tag of 229.99 €. The game was recently revealed in the latest Nintendo Direct.

The game is set to release on December 4, 2025. Octopath Traveler 0 will feature a reimagined story and gameplay, while maintaining the series’ pixel art HD-2D style.

What’s In The Collector’s Edition?

The Octopath Traveler 0 Collector’s Edition will feature a variety of physical products, including a ring, a set of playing cards, three 8-sided dice, a gaming mat, a music CD, and an Art Booklet. However, you won’t get a physical cartridge with the Switch 2 version of the game. Instead, you will receive a game key code.

Furthermore, the Collector’s Edition doesn’t only include physical items, but digital items as well. You’ll get all the various digital deluxe upgrade items once the game releases on December 4 later this year.

However, the lack of a physical cartridge for Switch 2 has caused an uproar among the fans. Despite paying a hefty sum, you’ll only get a game key card. The physical version of the game is available for other platforms, including Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.

From the looks of it, Octopath Traveler 0 looks like a promising title and a worthy addition to the franchise. But it’s questionable how fans won’t be able to upgrade from the Switch version of the game to Switch 2 for free.

Additionally, if you’ve purchased the Switch 2 version of the game, you’ll have to connect to the internet and download the game data before you’re able to play the game on your console after using the game key. Getting a Switch 2 version of the game doesn’t look like a good idea for now.
