The team at CLOVERS has shared a New Year’s message with a small but reassuring update on the long-awaited Okami sequel.
There is still no release window or new footage, but both studio leadership and creative director Hideki Kamiya confirm that development is actively moving forward, even if we will need to stay patient a little longer.

“We Are Hard at Work On the Okami Sequel”
In his message, CLOVERS president Kento Koyama looks back on how much the studio has grown over the past year and goes over the Okami sequel.
According to Koyama, the team has expanded significantly, welcoming many new developers who share the studio’s focus on creativity, craftsmanship, and experimentation. He confirms that work on the sequel is ongoing, though the release is “still a ways off.“
Rather than rushing, CLOVERS says its goal is to deliver an experience that surpasses expectations, even if that means taking more time.
Hideki Kamiya Reflects on Building CLOVERS From Scratch
Hideki Kamiya, studio head and chief game designer, also shared a personal message looking back on the studio’s journey.
After leaving his previous company two years ago, Kamiya says CLOVERS began as a very small team working out of a cramped rental office. Since then, the studio has grown into a fully established development team with offices in Tokyo and Osaka, made up of experienced developers with shared creative values.
Despite the studio growing fast, Kamiya says the team is still a “lively chaos,” full of passion, creativity, and with the goal to make games people actually enjoy.
No Release Date Yet, but the Team Is All In
There are no new gameplay or story details this time, but the message makes it clear that the Okami sequel is alive and well, and CLOVERS is clearly taking its time to make something special.
Kamiya emphasizes that delivering fun to players remains the studio’s core mission, not just for this year, but for the long term. It is a message that feels less like marketing and more like a quiet promise to fans who have been waiting a long time for Okami to return.
Okami has always been known for its unique art style and soul, and this update makes it sound like the sequel is being handled with the same care.
There is not much to show yet, but the message is reassuring, the brush has been picked up again, and the painting is still in progress!
