No amount of Nintendo lawsuits will stop Pocketpair from adding new collaborations to Palworld. Case in point, the company announced on X/Twitter an upcoming collab with the stylish, bloody indie shooter Ultrakill. The announcement is scant on details, but the account stated gear and weapons from Ultrakill would be appearing in Palworld. Interested gamers will have to wait for further details, as no date for the collab has been provided yet, only a “coming soon.” Still, while Palworld features firearms, I don’t think anybody expected this crossover.
Nintendo’s current lawsuit against Pocketpair hasn’t deterred other games from collaborations. Prior to Ultrakill, Palworld announced a collaboration with Terraria in late 2024, which launched recently. Terraria is available on the Nintendo eShop, and it would seem the dev, Pipeworks Studio, isn’t afraid of reprisal for collaborating with Pocketpair. While Ultrakill isn’t on the Switch or Switch 2 yet, the Palworld crossover may not prevent the game from landing there in the future. Given that Nintendo has regularly pushed indie games (such as with a recent direct), it seems the company is trying to make sure the eShop remains an attractive storefront for smaller devs. Regardless of any current legal actions.
