The latest Pokémon Present Livestream just ended, and Pokémon Company revealed a ton of exciting new games and updates! There is new content for competitive trainers, collectors, casual gamers, and more!
We put together a small breakdown of the most important information that was shared during the Stream. If you want to catch up, you can also watch it here:
Biggest Game Reveals
During the livestream, a few new games were announced, some starting right after the stream, and others planned for later this year:
- Pokémon Legends: Z-A
- Release Date: The game is officially scheduled for October 16, 2025
- Platforms: You can pre-order it for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
- Setting: A sort of futuristic Lumiose City with a few wild zones and even a day/night cycle
- Gameplay Highlights:
- Daytime: During the day, you can for example encounter powerful Alpha Pokémon
- Nighttime: During the night, everything changes! You can compete in Z-A Royal battles and try to become the Champion!
- Story & Characters:
- Join Team MZ, led by Urbain or Taunie. Depending on the character you pick at the start, you will either encounter Urbain or Taunie.
- You will also meet Corbeau, the boss of the Rust Syndicate. No team Rocket, but he does look pretty cool!
- You can even take and complete side quests for multiple NPC such as Detective Emma or Lab Director Mable.
- New Mechanic:
- Rogue Mega Evolutions: There is a serious problem with wild Pokémon. They are going rogue and suddenly turning on their own into Mega Evolutions!
- You will have to investigate alongside Quasartico Inc. Helping them out will let you earn Mega Stones. Those are needed if you want to Mega Evolve your own Pokémon.
- New Mega Evolution:
- Mega Dragonite revealed! Dragonite will be getting his first Mega Evolution! The design is quite unique, as it is inspired by Dragonair and the little wings on its head!
- Pokémon Champions
- Release Window: This new game should release current 2026
- Platforms: You will be able to play on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS, and Android
- Gameplay:
- The goal is to recruit Pokémon through Trials
- You can also do Permanent Recruitments using Victory Points
- Those Victory Points can also be used to increase or change Pokémon stats and Abilities
- Battle Modes:
- There are different modes in this game: Ranked, Casual, and Private (Singles or Doubles)
- Pokémon Friends
- This mobile game released right after the stream, so you can go ahead and download it already!
- Genre: It does look more like a cozy little puzzle game where you can collect Pokémons
- Platforms: You can already play it on Switch, Switch 2, iOS, or Android
- Gameplay:
- You have to solve puzzles to earn yarn that you then have to use at the Plush-O-Matic
- You can customize plush rooms and complete various quests
- The game already includes over 1200 puzzles and up to 150 plush Pokémon to collect
Animated Series
Pokémon Company teamed up with Aardman for a new stop-motion animated series, coming for 2027! It looks fun, original, and we can’t wait to check it out!
On top of that, they are also teaming up with Netflix for new Pokémon Concierge episodes coming September 4!
Pokémon TCG & Championships
- Mega Evolution TCG Expansion
- Release Date: September 26, 2025
- The set comes with a ton of new a cool looking cards:
- Mega Lucario ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, Mega Gardevoir ex
- Special Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Mega Venusaur ex evolution that even form a connected artwork if you line the cards next to each other
- Pokémon World Championships 2025
- Dates: August 15-17, 2025
- Location: Anaheim, California
- During the event, you can obtain the following promo cards:
- Paradise Resort promo card
- Previously announced Pikachu celebration card
Ongoing Game Updates
The following ongoing Pokémon games are also getting a few small updates, so make sure to check it all out:
- Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: New update with new raids
- Pokémon GO: Join in the worldwide “Unys” event on March 1 and 2, 2025. It is time to catch the legendary Black Kyurem and White Kyurem!
- Pokémon UNITE: New Pokémon arrive

- Pokémon Masters EX: We are getting a little anniversary event to celebrate the game’s 5th birthday
