Recently, a few new rumors appeared that suggest Capcom is really working on a Resident Evil 0 Remake! The codename is apparently “Project Chamber,” which could be a clear hint to protagonist Rebecca Chambers. The project is also said to take a more cinematic direction, with expanded storylines, and even new characters.
Below, we will go over every detail that is currently floating around online.
Development Details
According to multiple sources, development on the remake has been going on for several years, with performance capture sessions starting in 2024. The project is supposedly being handled in collaboration with Beyond Capture Studios, which is the same team that worked on the Resident Evil 4 Remake and Street Fighter 6.
On top of that, Actor Jon McLaren, who is best known as Star-Lord in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy game and for roles in Far Cry 5, listed on his résumé that he is a lead performer for “Project Chamber.” If this is true, he would likely be portraying Billy Coen.
According to the leaks, Capcom also plans to recast most roles rather than bringing back the original voice actors, so the same thing as for the other recent Resident Evil remakes.
Story Changes and New Additions
The remake should keep the core narrative of Resident Evil 0, but it will also include new scenes and subplots to develop more characters and storylines that were a bit underdeveloped in the original game.

One major addition reportedly involves a train conductor. He did not exist in the old game, but he might play a surprising new role in the story. Early on, he helps Rebecca fight some zombies on the Ecliptic Express, only to betray her moments later by trapping her with zombies so he can escape.
Later, Rebecca supposedly encounters him again, this time alongside a mysterious new figure linked to the main Resident Evil storyline. These changes will (hopefully) make the plot feel more emotional and impactful.
Release Timeline and Capcom’s Future Plans
According to leaker DuskGolem, a Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake is currently planned for a Q1 2027 release window. The Resident Evil 0 Remake would then follow sometime in 2028, suggesting Capcom has a long-term remake roadmap already planned.
Capcom has not officially confirmed Project Chamber, but multiple reports and actor listings point to something happening behind the scenes. If true, the Resident Evil 0 Remake could give Rebecca and Billy a deeper story, and maybe even open the door for more Resident Evil classics to return.
