A recent interview with Denfaminicogamer has revealed new exclusive details about Resident Evil Requiem (RE9)! This includes confirmation that the terrifying creature stalking protagonist Grace is not Lisa Trevor!
During the Gamescom demo, a lot of players noticed similarities between the creature’s cries and Lisa’s voice from the Resident Evil remake. Director Koshi Nakanishi addressed the speculation directly:
“Actually, the creature’s voice in the current version is not yet final. To be honest, we are using a temporary voice based on Lisa’s as a substitute.”
So Lisa’s voice may have been used as a placeholder, but she will not be stalking you in the game.
First Or Third-Person? You Decide

One of the biggest changes coming in Resident Evil Requiem is perspective. You will be able to experience the game in first-person or third-person. Meaning more choice to those who prefer the classic over-the-shoulder style.
Nakanishi explained that first-person made Resident Evil 7 and 8 scarier, but many players still struggle with it. And some simply prefer third-person for Resident Evil. Requiem is designed to let players choose their own way to play.
Grace’s Struggle for Survival

The game’s early combat focuses heavily on fear and vulnerability. Grace begins mostly defenseless, able only to hide or throw objects like bottles. Over time, she will gain access to weapons and new ways to fight back.
Producer Masato Kumazawa added that combat, exploration, and resource management remain at the heart of the series. Enemies will drop supplies, and new exclusive weapons are planned, but specifics were not revealed. Items Grace carries will also be visibly shown on her character model, making her survival feel more grounded and immersive.
The Future of Horror in Resident Evil
Nakanishi also touched on the evolution of horror games, from better textures and shading in the Resident Evil 2 remake to VR in Resident Evil 7. He believes technological advances and even online multiplayer will continue to change how horror is experienced, allowing players to share their fear in new ways.
At the end of the day, the devs are keeping Grace’s stalker shrouded in mystery, but one thing is for sure, it is not Lisa Trevor. We will have to wait to uncover what other nightmares await in Resident Evil Requiem!
